I've always done this on road trips to the tall clear windshield. Works great.

But you can also use Novus You can also get their polish to get out scratches.

For other plastics I use Bug Slide... it works real well.

This is pretty much my method. Lately I've been contemplating Rain-X or something to keep the water from collecting on the visor, especially on foggy mornings.
