Daytona 200 Results Still Provisonal

As of last night, the results of last Friday's Daytona 200 were still provisional which makes some believe that when the official and final results are posted that some of the running order may change.

Don't expect DMG to name a new winner, but there have been accusations since the race ended that many riders made illegal passes during the yellow-flag/safety car period of the race.

One rider has already been disqualified: Buell rider Dan Eslick actually led the race and seemed to have the race well in hand before parts started falling off his Buell, a situation that led him to pit early. Yards of duct tape were used in an attempt to keep the Buell from shelling parts.

Eslick and his 1100cc twin rejoined the race, but even with nearly double the displacement of the 600s he was racing against, Eslick seemingly needed even more of an advantage.

After the race he was disqualified by the AMA/DMG for passing multiple riders during the caution period.

I'm still confused about some of the postioning but some of it is cleared up.

With the new rules, full course yellows, pace car, pits stops, etc.. you'd think the big teams would have hired some type of "DMG coach." Basically someone to teach the rider(s) what is the appropriate course of action in a given situation.

I doubt DMG knows what to do in a particular given situation...They are going to do like NASCAR and make it up as they go along...A real sanctioning body would have clear definitive rules and procedures prior to their first big event...Ah but the season is long....

I wonder alot why they felt they had to go and try to reinvent the wheel?:idk:

Well,I like T. Hayden's statement that he didn't understand how the starting lights worked...:scratch: That's the kind of crap that causes accidents. Oh well,I'm not sure,you may know SM,but I'm hoping that this "cluster-fuck" style of race management was a one-off deal for the 200.

same here! I dont know how DMG will endure the year, but I know there will be more problems ahead for them. Will they find someone experienced in roadracing and take their word on how to run it? Will there be any manufacturers left? Will they manage to attract or lose sponsorship with their ignorance? Will our national economy kill it off until it is just a side show club racing sanctioning body?:idk::idk:

Hey in their defense,I have to say that it was amazing to see all the non-motorcycle sponsors and all of the different brands participating.
