Yeah, my family moved off of the farm when I was ten. We owned about 800 acres and rented like 4-5 hundred more I think. Parents started their own business. My dad says he still misses harvesting.

I love farming, I really do... but these hours are getting to me now, for whatever reason.
IDK, just different I guess, and it's been a long stressfull harvest. And we have at least 2 weeks left yet.... If all goes well, we'll be done by xmas.

and yeah, off to bed.. .have to be at work by 7.. :panic:

what are you harvesting now? Pretty fuckin late. Or was it just a late spring before you could plant?

Corn... it's always a late harvest with that. and we had a lot of rain this fall that made everything later.

about 1500 acres to go... which is about 10 days straight with no problems...

How many acres do you have total? I'm guessing you aren't the only one in your operation.

No, I'm the hired hand in a farming operation.
We have 3 full time guys (including myself)
All the trucking is hired out.
Total acres we cover, including custom work, is around 6000 for the year.
Around 4000 of that is corn.

We average about 110 acres a day on corn.
