I don't know how much of a difference there is between the .380 and the 9mm but, I personally couldn't rely on the LCP in a high-energy situation. The reason is to shoot it properly, I have to use the tip of my finger in an awkward position. If I just use a natural position, my finger hits my palm before the sear breaks. Oddly enough, my Phoenix HP22 fits perfectly! You hands are probably smaller than mine though so, it may work for you just fine. I will say the LCP I have fired (friend's gun) is dead-on accurate at 25yds!

Doesn't seem that out of line, but I'd need to look at the parts list to see what was actually in it. :idk:

Yeah, I've got fairly big hands, and the LCP feels like a squirt gun.

Love my Sig P230sl however.

nhgunnut 08-13-2012 08:57 AM

Ok so I walked in to my local funshop and found them in the middle of a trade. I waited looked this over and took it for short money. Haven't told the wife yet! (this is going to be oh I had in the other safe in the garage forever , conversations) But here it is , nothing special just a classic circle 10 Bulgarian Makarov . Came with a couple mags and a coupe boxes of ammo. Little wear on the edges but probably will keep it just the way it is, use it as a pocket piece .

wildchild 08-19-2012 03:44 PM

ok, anyone have any opinions, thoughts or experience with S & W, M & P 15 sport?

I haven't been a huge fan of tac rifles but this one caught my eye. lower price then most is attractiv, S&W I like, etc. feels good in the hand,

I realize better could be had for over 1,000 but that isn't an option I would be willing to go with. just under 7 bills I can live with

Rangerscott 08-19-2012 07:07 PM

Haven't read a single compaint on the web about them. If a round doesn't load, then just eject and try again since it doesnt have the assist. DelTon makes a sport model that still has the dust cover and assist for the same price or cheaper.

nhgunnut 08-20-2012 05:39 PM

S&W makes a good rifle. They on average are higher priced than some of equal or higher quality.

Thanks - Put about 450 rounds downrange with it and it's about broken in.

I picked up a Wilson Combat mag as a secondary and haven't been happy with it. Been getting the occasional fail to feed w/ it. Stock kimber mag has been perfect.

nhgunnut 09-21-2012 07:03 PM

Ok so ,y limited impulse control has lead to a bit of irony. After commenting about S&W being a bit over priced I just grabbed this little number up and popped an Aimpoint Comp 2 on it with a YHM BUIS and a after market Pistol grip. I also grabbed up 2 C Product mags and 2 ASC Mags
It is in 5.45x39 this is the 7th caliber I have in ARs but since I can get 1080 rounds of Ammo to My door for $199 (that is delivered) I jumped on it

http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps6712c364.jpg

nhgunnut 09-23-2012 11:59 AM

This on the other hand I grabbed for completely different reason. Yes it is a 1895 Nagant, and several importers have example in nicer condition for about $100. This one however is a WWII bring back devoid of any import marks. Produced in 1940 at the Tula Arsenal and complete with an officers holster.

I am pleased with this little piece of history.

Yes it is a very anemic ( by today's standards) 7.62 round.

Rangerscott 09-23-2012 06:35 PM

Its a .30 cal round that kicks like a .22.

Id recommend buying a 1000rnd spam can. Nagant surplus ammo has been kinda low and tyese cans have just popped up out of no where. Not cheap though at $300 a can.

A Republic Airlines flight attendant was detained and then charged with disorderly conduct after she attempted to pass through security at the Philadelphia International Airport with a loaded .38 revolver in her purse, triggering an incident in which police accidentally discharged the weapon while securing it, authorities said.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headline...port-security/

A flight attendant with a permit to carry a handgun forgot to leave her weapon at home Sunday morning, leading to the accidental discharge of the gun by a police officer at Philadelphia International Airport.
The flight attendant, who is an employee of Republic Airlines, which operates US Airways Express flights out of Philadelphia, put her handbag on the X-ray machine conveyor belt as she went through the routine security check about 6:30 a.m. at Terminal C, said Jim Fotenos, spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration.
TSA officers noticed the gun and alerted Philadelphia police officers, who responded quickly, police spokesman Lt. Ray Evers said.
A female police officer, whom the department declined to name, tried to make the weapon safe by removing the bullets but instead accidentally fired it, Evers said. The bullet that was discharged hit the ground and did not injure anyone.
Because the flight attendant, who also was not named, has a valid gun permit, she received only a summary citation for passing the gun through a security checkpoint and was released, Evers said. The flight attendant, however, was replaced by another flight attendant on the Dallas-bound flight, a US Airways spokeswoman said.
The discharge is being investigated by Philadelphia police internal affairs department, Evers said.
"She will go back to training for handling weapons," Evers said of the patrol officer who accidentally discharged the gun. "She will be off the streets for a period of time."
The protocol for such a situation, Evers said, is for a regular patrol officer to respond and if the officer is not sure how to handle the weapon, a police supervisor should be called.
No flights were delayed as a result of the gun discharge, airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica said.
"Operationally we were business as normal," Lupica said.

My guess is the partial hammer pull. The revolvers I've used I had to half cock them to release the cylinder to load/unload. The agent probably tried the same thing and messed it up.

fatbuckRTO 09-27-2012 02:15 PM

Figured this would be the best place for this question, vice a new thread:

I'm looking to buy a handgun (semi-auto, probably a Beretta 9mm since that's what I'm familiar with). I've had plenty of weapons training but I've never bought or owned my own. There's an Academy Sports a couple blocks from my house that I've checked out a little. Would any of you recommend buying from a large chain store like Academy, or a smaller (and firearm specific) mom-&-pop store?

Rangerscott 09-27-2012 03:01 PM

Its up to you. I buy online to avoid tax and tye pruces are usually low enough that it keeps me from having to haggle with someone.

Chain stores price is what it is. Mom and pops can haggle or maybe have an extra magazine/ammo thrown in with the price or whatever. When it comes to guns I actually like wasting a day on searching the whole town instead of just going to one place.

I'd say it depends on what you want the pistol to do. Is it a home defense pistol? A carry pistol? A range plinker?

Answering that question first can greatly help narrow down your choices.

As an aside, I prefer the smaller mom and pop type of stores as opposed to the chains. You generally will get great service along with a nice price.

nhgunnut 09-27-2012 04:03 PM

My preference would be the the Mom and Pop knowing that I am likely to have to pay a bit more , but in the event of a problem I am far more likely to be speaking with someone at least passingly familiar with the weapon. Chain store employees at least here in the Northeast tend to also work the shoe counter, and and the golf section.

I bought my Taurus 9mm from Academy. The price was comparable to anything I was going to get anywhere else, by the time you figure in $20-30 FFL transfer and shipping.

Fnp has about 2000 rounds through it, almost all of it the cheapest ammo I can buy. The first 250 rounds, it jaNamed quite a few times, but after that not once. It's a full size handgun so it's just a littleToo big for cow. Cleaning is easy and the blued finish isn't showing any wear. I can shoot a (best) 3 inch shot group, but usually closer to 6 inches at 25 Yards

Good to hear. Before your first shootout, did you fully disassemble and oil everytang? Every gun has a wear in time so don't worry too much over it. My PT640pro still hiccups from time to time. Had a youtuber chime in and said he sent his back and they told him the barrel was misaligned or something. I need to check mine out.

derf 10-08-2012 11:30 PM

Yeah the first time I took it to the range I fully disassembled it, cleaned off any factory gunk and lubed it a little too much. But the spring was pretty stiff and really have me problems where it would h jam every few rounds. After that first range visit I left the slide back for a week and the problem lessened to the point where it was misfiring every magazine then every few magazines, and some about 250 it stopped misfiring all together and has been functioning ever since

Rangerscott 10-08-2012 11:41 PM

Another thing you can do is leave the mags loaded for a week or so.

That thing looks awesome, but I can only imagine how it throws off the balance of the gun. Fully loaded, your shotgun would be so nose heavy (and changing as you send rounds downrange) that it would slow reaction time.

Super heavy front end = slow swing around to acquire new target.

By looking at my gut...I'm not sure ANYTHING has ever been separated from me. Especially any distance between a buffet and my fork!

If the land of the dumbasses gives him another 4 years, he can place more anti-gun voting justices on the Supreme Court. I do believe if it came down to the 2nd ammendment being threatened at that level we may see another civil uprising.

After 25k suppressed rounds through the Old P22 it was time for it to retire (the inside of barrel looked like old brake line) I picked this up. A Ruger 22/45 Lite.It runs my favorite subsonics well with or without the can. Very accurate off the rest. Weighs in the same range as the Walther. It will be receiving a couple of Modification shortly.
It will be getting a Volq trigger (stock has a lot of take up and is very heavy . t is predictable so you can learn to shoot it but I am finicky)
It will also have the barrel Cerakoted either Black or OD green (the silver makes it look goofy IMHO)

Ok winter is in sight and I needed a project, so I went through Curtis at Ak_builder.com and grabbed this
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...107_085104.jpg
After unwrapping this this little bundle of joy I was very pleased with the its content.
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...107_090442.jpg
A Bulgarian AK74 kit sporting as issued Bulgarian Plum furniture.
for folks who are interested in doing a build of a AK Curtis's kits are the easiest I have found to deal with. In case you don't know it is illegal to import kits now with complete barrels. That means if you see a what used to be a $99. Romanian "G" kit with it's original barrel you will pay as much as $450 or possibly more for it. If you buy a kit with a De-milled Barrel you are left to buy a new Virgin barrel head space it your self (time consuming and annoyingly difficult) press on the gas block drill the gas port and then press on the front sight then go one to De Mill the rest of the kit and prep it for building.
Curtis provides the Kit with a Chrome lined US barrel head spaced and all hard wear installed.
Additionally when the kit arrives you will find that all the old rivets have been removed (saves a couple hours of work) and is ready for assembly and finishing.
The condition of the kit I received is amazing . First rather present surprise is mine is a number matching kit (His sight says they may not be , the one I received is) Sight , gas block and front sight are straight with no cant. (making this happen with a virgin barrel can be tough for the home builder) The kit I received has very little wear and the finish on parts original to the rifle look new. Like most of the kits I have see the furniture has some handling marks but look to be in very good to excellent condition. Additionally Curtis has and I bought the rivet kits to assemble the rifle and original Bulgarian sight rail
While not as Lego like as the AR platforms with small investment in tools AK are easy enough to build . I will be ordering a NDS receiver to build mine on but if you are a crafty sort Curtis also sells 80% Complete receivers .
Oh and on a side note if you are interested in any of these , given the election results NOW would be the time to act

Just got an email from midway saying my upper is processing.

My newest buy. Only my second Handgun. Unfortunately, its an expected 3 month wait to clear canadian customs, get the permits, and ship it securely to me in canada.

Not that it matters, there is no nearby indoor ranges and winter is here. But I really liked the gun.
