CHEAP: Universal luggage trunk

http://auto.sears.com/Product.htm?ca...ductId=2022700

for $32 (med) or $42 (large), it may be worth a try for you cheap skates. If I didn't have my luggage, I would probably try it.

derf 04-06-2010 09:25 PM

can those work as saddle bags? or only as a trunk?

I am sure if you were a good machinist you could pull it off, but I wouldn't be able to do that.

For what? to build a decent rack?

Gas Man 04-06-2010 10:44 PM

Thats an awesome find! Should I get one for on top of my current trunk?

WTF? BS. Don't consumer protection laws guard against this kind of "last minute" charge?

Be worth a shot, cheap enough that resale for close to cost might work out if they didn't fit right.

Gas Man 04-08-2010 12:30 AM

Trip can you answer this? From my local board...

Quote:

Have you ever seen one up close and personal? I'd want to lay hands on it first. I wonder if you could remove the crappy backrest and just snug it up to the sissy bar? I can guaranteee my wife won't give up her office chair backrest for the one on the trunk.

Also wonder how much it weighs? They don't say. Most luggage racks I've seen have a limit around 10-12lbs, so if the unit weighs 5lbs. you're really cutting down on capacity.

Trip 04-08-2010 08:08 AM

no, i can't, advrider would be the place for that.

Particle Man 04-08-2010 08:40 AM

once I see how ontwo (or was it pdog?) makes out I'll see about orderin' one.

I may find an extra passenger seat and rig something up to bolt to the bottom of the case rather than put it on a luggage rack though.

Wasn't me. I want to Nelson Rigg saddlebags to complete my set.

However, if I was going to add one, I would fab a bracket that would bolt right into where the grab bar sits. Then extend it backward. That way 1. I could use it with the wifey on back and 2. I could use it with the tail bag and saddlebags on

Amber Lamps 04-08-2010 08:28 PM

I might get one and bolt it to a spare seat. If it can hold a 150 girl, it can hold this thing.

Captain Morgan 05-06-2010 10:51 PM

Damn, and I just spent $300 on one that holds two XL helmets, has an alarm and wires up to brake lights.

derf 05-07-2010 12:45 AM

Can anyone confirm if it can be mounted sideways? or is it just a top box?

Switch 05-07-2010 06:02 PM

No, it's a top rack from SWMotech.

yeah, those little bitches are all over the BMW. BMW uses them all over the place is all sizes. It really annoyed me at first until I got all the torx covered.

Cutty72 05-10-2010 09:15 PM

At least they're all the same size on the Buell.

Particle Man 05-10-2010 09:17 PM

the one on the TPS on the SV may as well be made of wet cardboard for all the strength it has. Stupid effin' thing.

How expensive was the rack?

Switch 05-10-2010 10:47 PM

I wanna say like 120

Particle Man 05-10-2010 11:04 PM

SW Motec's instructions suck. The ones that came with my centerstand looked about the same.

Oh their stuff is freakin' great, no arguments there!

Amber Lamps 05-11-2010 09:24 AM

$120? screw that... I'm afro engineering mine on there! besides I don't want a rack on my bike 24/7.

ontwo 05-11-2010 10:06 AM

That looks great, Kyle. If I get one, i'll fab up something to fit where the grab rail on the SV bolts on.

Amber Lamps 05-13-2010 05:34 PM

Done! $45 out the door....

It'll work for me! I bought a tailbag for last year's rally and used it once since then... I'll use this for this year's rally to carry crap on rides, souvenirs, rain gear, gear when hiking up mountains (thanks AGAIN Eric!), etc.

Particle Man 05-13-2010 07:12 PM

Hmmm, that actually looks pretty decent...

Cutty72 05-13-2010 07:35 PM

Not bad AL.. Looks like you may need a new rear before the rally, a little flat in the center, or is it just the pic?

Sorta, I had a coupon code that I tried to put on top of it and it took an extra 5% off but added the shipping and a surcharge on. Total is $101.54 to my door

derf 06-22-2010 10:20 PM

Yeh but at least tell me when I call and ask, each time I've called they have told me that its in stock and will ship on XXX date arriving on YYY date then I get a confirmation email. YYY date comes and passes no package so I call again and get the same line. This was the 4th time I was told it would ship by the end of the week and I should get it next week so I cancelled. I've never ordered anything from sears before and I never will

Gas Man 06-23-2010 09:40 AM

Tt is f'ed up derf.
