As the riding season ends for some...

Many of us are coming up on the end of another riding season, what areas have you progressed to satisfaction and what areas need attention next riding season?

My main thing is to hit the track a few times next year, BUT with one kid in college and another going next fall I'm just happy I've been able to keep the bikes lol...

I want to explore the many other roads within Western NC and Eastern TN that I have yet to ride as well.

racedoll 11-07-2009 09:17 PM

More mileage for me. I'm tired of having just 1000-2000 miles per year when I used to get more than this when I first bought my bike.

I REALLY need to get better about riding off road... I suck!

I wanna do at least a hand full of all day off road rides... not just riding in the local single track... but TRIPS...

get more comfortable with doing my own maintenance... the DRZ is the perfect bike to do that on...

add at least 6 states to my tally... (started over with the DRZ)

I finally got my confidence back after going down 2 years ago. I no longer think I'm going to eat pavement every time I get on the bike. I will probably ride every day it's over 35 in the mornings, so the winter won't be that long. Next year I will be concentrating on body position, lean angle and smoother shifts.

I'm the same way if it's high 30's I'll ride, what cause you to go down 2 yrs ago?

Somebody go deer hunting and get one for me.

Was going around a wide open corner and it hopped in front of me. I avoided it, went off road, but there was a 4 inch difference between the road and shoulder and I didn't make it back on the road and slapped down on my right side.

Damn bambi

I see them every morning on the way to work. I just bullet down the road at 80mph. Figure if I'm going to hit one a second time, somebody's not going to get up.

Those deer see those spikes now and say fuck that! :tremble:

Since I started back at the track this year, I'd say I progressed in everything.

Next years goals - IF I retain my ZX10, to try and hit faster lap times.

IF I move on to a motard and ditch the ZX, my goal will be to work on ALL of that noise. ;)

Cutty72 11-08-2009 07:05 PM

My next year goals.... actually get to ride some, and possibly, just possibly, actually meet some of you fuckers.
Depending of course on when I get home, and when all the shindiggitys go on.

Particle Man 11-08-2009 09:29 PM

with a more upright riding position on the SV, I need to re-learn throttle/clutching technique for slow speed stuff

racedoll 11-08-2009 10:44 PM

On my ride today went down a road I kind of know, but wasn't comfortable at all. I need to ride it more but also need to learn to read the road better.

karl_1052 11-09-2009 06:01 AM

to get into the 9s
:D

Tmall 11-09-2009 06:03 AM

I've honestly progressed to where I'm comfortable on the streets.

I want to get a knee down next year, but I would prefer it on the track.

Time and money will tell.

Adeptus_Minor 11-09-2009 11:12 AM

I suppose I don't belong in this one since riding season really doesn't end here, but I feel compelled to mention that I'm relearning how to handle a sportbike and already have 1000+ miles on the new Buell.
Let's see if I can manage 2k before spring.

z06boy 11-09-2009 11:22 AM

No real goals other than to keep finding cool roads to ride...to continue to keep from getting creamed by any crazy cagers or wandering deer and to not end up off the road unless it's planned.

I got over 7 in my first season. Barely got 3 this year between the flood, new pup, and all the military goings on.
It should really start waking up in the next few hundred miles man.
3rd gear power wheelies FTW!

Opening day is on the 15th. :rockwoot:

t-homo 11-09-2009 03:39 PM

14th here.

t-homo 11-09-2009 03:42 PM

This summer I: did a trackday, drug my knee, and did an iron butt. Next summer, do it all again a couple of times, make it to the rally, and get overall faster/more comfortable.

Bow season is already here. Gun season starts after T-day.

And yes, make it to the rally is another goal of mine.

Quick281 11-09-2009 09:37 PM

Either buy a snow mobile and or consider on how I will get my bike from Atlanta, GA to Talkeetna, Alaska.
