Holly barely rides same with victoria...And I forgot about jackson bc he just started to wear that lid.

IDK, I have a few friends who have crashed within the last year in Icons that will never put one on their heads again. It does look nice though.

I hate ICON, had a helmet of theirs a while back and it fell apart on me. All the plastic stick on parts cracked and fell off, the vents all stopped working, and it fogged up any time there was a little bit of moisture in the air

That being said, I don't like Icon lids either... It's actually one of the only types of helmet that I don't own (other than a passenger lid) that I don't want to own. My passenger lid, top of the line Icon at the time, has had parts fall off it, quit working etc. I'm sure that it would protect someone in a crash but I expect more than that from a $300+ lid. |

BTW, no helmet should be used after it has hit the ground, so if your friends won't buy icon because it can't be crashed and reworn, maybe it is the perfect helmet for them.;) Disclaimer:I have never owned anything from Icon. |
Shoei FTW
Still love my rf1000, only knock on it is it foggs up some, thats the only advantage my shark has over it since I use that as my witner helmet, alsmot wish I would crash it it so I could toss it  |
Does anyone wear ICON in racing? AMA, WSBK, BSS, or any other level?
|

I agree with what was said here, but for the money that Icon cost it shouldnt fall apart before it hits the ground. |
I love a lot of the graphics but I'm going Scorpion for my next lid.

Some others may be able to add to this but a few years back the LRRS banned a certain type of hjc helmet due to safety reasons. |

I just find it funny that ICON doesn't support nor does anyone support ICON at the racetrack.
Also I was always under the impression HJC sucked because they weren't $700 Arai/Shoei's, but then I learned as of last year a 3-time AMA champ Ben Spies rocked them for his rookie WSBK season. Lesson learned, and I would LOVE to have one of their offroad full carbon helmets. I think only 1 of 2 manf to make a full offroad carbon headcase. |

Icon always seemed like the lid of choice for the squid set. seems to be the helmet of choice to wear as a hat (resting on top of the head vs worn on the head)
I always ignored them. However one of these days I might actually buy a helmet that matches my motorcycle so maybe when that time comes I'll try one out. |
Icon does make 1 piece leathers now. Not sure of their quality...but it's probably fine.

may be a rider that is sponsored by Icon, but wants a one piece, so he sews Icon patches on another brand suit.
|
Could also be prototypes/r&d stuff they're testing. :idk:

I wish somebody other than Icon had come out with the "Variant" helmet. I like how it looks, but I've never been an Icon fan.
|
ICON tends to attract the early 20s guys....squids. lol
I'll agree ICON makes the best looking gear by a margin, but their lids just fit strangely and I feel the padding used it far less then the other mainstream high end units. I like Suomy the best...for fit and the lack of fogging up. |

I don't care how much you spend on a helmet. If it doesn't fit its not going to do its job. I owned two Icon helmets (I still have one) and one HJC dirt. I have been down on the street and in the dirt. I don't think my head hit on the street. But I also had on an Icon jacket and it didn't have a mark on it. I didn't really slide, I kinda bounced. I did have a zipper break but not from the accident.
In the dirt I hit my head on a rock and had only a small scuff on the HJC. Both the HJC fit my perfect, from the first time till the last. I think I might have been the first to buy an Icon helmet at my dealer. The reason I looked at them was because of my HJC. I tried on almost every helmet there and that fit the best. My Icon did fog up from what I remember. James |
