Hey if you don't want to fix it, i'll take it of you hand and fix it for a second CRF in the stable.
just kiddin, what happened to her, crank or top end. |
On another note, you can get rid of that ugly overflow bottle and use the front down tube of the frame for an overlfow. The bottom is caped off and all you have to do is JB weld the 1/8" hole ob the frame by the coil, drill and put in two 90 degree fittings at the bottom left side and top left side with some more JB weld. Bottom one aims up, top on eaims down. Slip the original hose from radiator to the bottom one and a new hose from the top one down under the engine. Some some race coolant in the downtube via the hose from the radiator and bam, you have an overflow tank.
Mine has been that way for 5 years..... |

I need crank and bearings, rod, piston, and cylinder. I'm going to rebuild the head with stainless valves and springs while I'm at it. I'll post some pictures in the next post. Quote:

Here you can see the portion of the cylinder that fragmented off, as well as the mark on the cylinder wall from the piston going up cockeyed:

Yeah high compression is great coming off the apex, not so great if you put a few too many hours on your motor  |

Got the frame and swingarm back and the crank bearings showed up as well... guess all that's left now is the elbow grease and finding the time.
Tomorrow have to drive 8 hours round trip for a TD instructors meeting, then leaving sunday for work travel again... hahaha wtf Pics of PC'ing... came out real nice: |
Looks good brother.

Starts up again in about 1.5weeks. so the tard isn't going to be ready, I've just got too much going on. I'm flying out for work again on thursday. So I'm just gonna race the r6 for all of round 1 and make sure i get the tard 100% set to go for the next one. All new bearings in the chassis, fresh suspension both ends. Just picked up the head from getting a valve job and new valves and springs and seals, now just have to put the motor together. Currently looks like this lol: |

Well, finally got the motor rebuilt and threw it in, buttoned everything up... kicked it a bunch of times, and she started up!
Just need to give some fresh gas, a quick oil change after a short rip around the neighborhood, figure out whats up with the brake since they feel fucked up, and she'll be good to go. I'll just keep instructing and racing on the r6 for now, i still need to get better on that anyways. This photo's a little washed out.... but the frame and swingarm PC'ing really make this thing look fuckin sick. |
Hey, it's got an engine again!!!
Congrats, now go rape that thing. |
Sick bike dude.
|
So at a recent track day I planned to take this thing out in one of the sessions I wasn't instructing and break the motor in, do some nice gradual throttle rollons and some nice easy engine braking, then change the oil to get the metal out (this thing only has ~.75 quart of oil in the tranny and about the same in the motor).
I fill it up with some C12, turn on the petcock... and the brass elbow fitting that inserts into the carb starts pissing fuel out... guess the series of 3 o-rings that seals this thing was toast. So I had to order a carb O-ring kit and then I went away for work travel again. I'm gonna fix it Friday and break the motor in around the neighborhood and change the oil... and, you guessed it, then I go away for work travel again. I come back next friday and hope to go up to the track and race it next weekend. We shall see.... So goes the saga of this fucking motard  Once I've raced it again I think I might re-badge it a 2010... because I basically rebuilt the whole thing lol |
Well it looks good anyway :dthumb:
How long you been working on it? |
lol i blew it up a year ago... actual work time probably like a week
