Do you pay a big difference in insurance between the R6 and R1?

I don't have the amounts in front of me so I don't remember the difference but the R1 is definitely more.

Also the R1 is on several companies "banned" list and they won't provide full coverage so they outsource it to "high risk" companies that charge a killing to provide full coverage.

Nationwide who I'm with will insure it BUT only because I've been with them for so long and have several things insured through them.

Actually at first it was closer than I expected until I realized they had the R6 valued at $8300 and due to a typo had the R1 valued at $1000 instead of $10,000. :willy:

Sorry for the novel.

fnfalman 05-08-2008 09:48 AM

Congratulations on the new toy!

My 2000 R1 is going to be 364/per full coverage. Have to love being a student and still under my parents even though its in my name completely.

ceo012384 05-08-2008 06:00 PM

AWESOME dude!!!!!

I've really been wanting to hear some reviews from someone who has ridden the 06-07 and the 08. How much of a difference does the variable-length intake tract make in the midrange???

MEDIC 05-08-2008 10:06 PM

thanks for the compliments everyone !

Fuck fuck fuck. Everyone is getting new blingin rides.

Actually when I first got my F3 and sold my SecaII. Then had it in a billion peices this is what happend to me.

1 friend got a 2007 V-strom 1000
2 friend got my old Yamaha SecaII
3 friend got a 1997 Suzuki Katana600
4 friend got a 2007 Katana 600
5 friend got a 2006 Ninja 250 and now has an 08 SV650s
6 friend got a 2005 RC51
7 friennd's girlfriend(Number 6) got a 2007 ZZR600
8 friend sold cruiser to get a 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250
9 friend got a 2003 Suzuki GSXR600

At the same time my F3 was in peices while they were out riding in 70degree weather in December.

But back to the original thread. That is a nice looking R6. I've never really liked the looks of them but the more and more I see them the more they grow on me. I also heard their powerband is pretty stout and not all up top which is what I like.

Don't forget your tank sliders.

ceo012384 05-08-2008 11:31 PM

VERY nice looking 6 bro. I love the way they hid all the fairing bolts. Really cleaned up the looks.

The only thing I don't like about this year's black version is the wheels being that off color and the forks being gold. I like how mine has the black forks and black wheels.

That's the absolute opposite of the reality

To be honest I'm a little appalled that yamaha did a mild redesign and didn't fix the tank issue. That is a NEW tank and new airbox, they have to change it in order to fit the variable intake tract mechanism in there. Why would they design a whole new tank and airbox and NOT correct that?

t-homo 05-09-2008 01:47 AM

Hey are pig spotters any use? I like the look of them over the mirrors sticking out, but do they do any good?

Mr Lefty 05-09-2008 02:21 AM

from what I've seen no... they're just for looks... just to fill the requirement to have mirrors. that's it

damn. ok. I don't think MO requires mirrors. Its either none or just the left. I want them though, and was hoping these would be usable and useful.

Damnit!!! Too much odd ball information. I hear it's got a good powerband I hear the powerband sucks. I like a more midrange torqy powerband but like the high revs of the inline 4s.

I know GSXRs don't have a powerband I like. So who would? Honda or Kawasaki or are they all power at the very top? What about the Triumph 675. Some joker on a GSXR600 said it didn't feel more powerful than his bike.

I guess I need a GSXR750 or fuck it I'd hate to say it but a Litre.

Now you're talking. Actually if you want a medium displacement engine with very good torque, you should check my my bike. Kawi Z750s. From what you describe you would love the power band.

fatburg 05-09-2008 09:33 AM

I hate this time of year, everyone showing off their new bike.

Nice ride tho

It's an excellent powerband, just not the kind you are looking for
