Nice pics, shitty track. Where in Michigan is Grattan? Place reminds me of a track I rode in IL years ago...Black Hawks Farm. The pavement was terrible.

Looks like a fun place for a motard... You even got a sweet jump!

The track itself looks shitty and the facilities are shitty indeed although they have a decent pool that is a redeeming quality and nice to take a dip after a track day in 90 degree weather.. But the track surface, as shitty as it looks, is actually not bad.. there is traction everywhere and save for a few bumps coming onto the straight and treacherous sealer in the rain it is a great track to ride.. The blue Yamaha trailer is Ben Bostrom's - the AMA guys raced endurance there on Saturday.. which was a rare occasion and of course the track fucked it up.. the owners decided on Thursday to go to home depot to put sealer down where the cars dug a rut - FAIL! So one of the AMA guys crashed and was seriously injured probably out for the season - not happy.. I heard it was like racing on marbles in turn 2 and 3 (and 3 is off camber) where they put the shitty sealer.. so they grinded it down and other than a guy i know crashing sunday I heard it was much better saturday and sunday then monday for the track day it was back to normal.. epic fail on grattan's part.. you won't EVER see AMA back there again..

And what race number would be the Mudpuppy?

I grew up not too far from there, but moved long before I got into tracking bikes.

Is there a rough tranisition at a braking point getting everyone's back wheel in the air? Their front susension doesn't look compressed enough to have that happen. And what's up with the apex cones, did they have those out during the race?

i wasn't racing just hanging out - knew some people that were racing..

the back wheel in the air is from the hump.. there is a small straight that leads to the hump that gets the back tire in the air and then you go downhill to a series of esses..
