For those that don't know about the latest Ducati...
The V-Rod killer: http://www.diavel.ducati.com/jsp/en/design/index.jsp

I couldn't find the MSRP.
|
looks like a v-max ish?

I like it.

That bike is da debbil! and I love it.
|
I hate the tag holder...that would be changed but I don't hate the bike. It's kind of funky looking but kind of cool at the same time.
|
Yeah, that won't do anything to vrod sales. It's missing an all important feature.

Dlit must of hit his head on the curb if he thinks HD riders care about stupid shit like performance. |

(isn't 'performance' where they make the exhaust louder and the idle rougher?) |

I'm not a big fan of the headlight. It looks awesome from picture two though. Maybe put a duc streetfighter headlight on it.
|
V Rod for me please. Or V Max. I like my Ducatis with cornering prowess.
|
I'd take a V-rod. That thing looks like a cross between a Buell and a Ducati 900.
|
It doesn't take much to kill a V-Rod in either sales figure or performance.
|
First Impression - Barf.
But its growing on me... |
While I find myself in agreement with FnFalman as far as the difficulty of out performing a V Rod, I can't help but feel Ducati Built "Dumbed Down" Bike for the american market. When I first heard about this bike I thought is was going to be a Busa Killer instead well a V Rod? WTF

So, why would a true riding enthusiast want this "thing"? The answer is that the true enthusiasts wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft pole. The wannabes that don't want to ride American or Japanese cruisers are going to be the ones buying this "thing". |

Looks like 700lbs of poo.
|
I don't know. The body has the looks of a stubby streetfighter, but not liking the rake on the front end and maybe if the rear wheel was moved forward some more.

Everybody's got a big hard on (or off) for this machine despite the fact that nobody has ridden it... I don't judge a book by it's cover... This thing could be AMAZING. Is it going to handle like a SS? No, but that doesn't mean it's not going to handle. Max lean angle is 41º IIRC, not too shabby. The bike isn't a cruiser, a power cruiser, or a sportbike... it's something in between... it's ok if you think it's ugly, but you can't say it's a piece of shit until someone actually rides it... otherwise you're just talking out your ass. |

It's the hottest looking most badazz bike on the planet...OR it's an ugly piece of crap that I wouldn't be seen on. It's fast as all get out...OR you don't ride it...you just park it and then go hang out.
Humm...I must be on the internet !!  |

Why do you care so much what we think of this ugly ass bike? |
Quote:
I like all sorts of different bikes and while I think this one misses in a the styling department, I think it's a very cool concept and could see it as being a phenomenal street machine. Personally, I love where Duc (and BMW) has been heading for the past few years... They are (both) reinventing the motorcycle and setting the bar pretty high for other mfg's... |

And the planned successor for the 1198... monocoque frame, less weight, more HP than anything out there (or so I've heard)... MotoGP for the masses! |

I like it... looks good.
What's the sticker price? |
Quote:
|
Even more than the v-rod? :skep:
|
What's a v-rod go for?
|
Nightrod at $14,700
|
Diavel starts at seventeen and can balloon past twenty
|
Then I'd take a nightster and with the extra saved money... just make it a crazy beast.

Funny guys. Last nightrod I rode was a blast and stupid fast!

I've been stuck cagin it so much lately that a Spree would feel fast.

I'm just saying... I know what is fast. I've drove fast cars. Your logic is flawed. Just because I don't own one of those current "fast" things, that I don't know what fast is anymore? That just isn't so.

I said the one I was riding was modified... tuned, piped, etc... it was FUN!

Shit, you may have ridden a Nightrod but I owned a Street Rod. That mutha got outranned by my oversized dirtbike which gave up 20-HP on it. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...intDive008.jpg |

You know, for me... a motorcycle doesn't have to be the fastest, best handling machine in the world for me to have fun on it... I guess I'm one of the rare ones on this board who cannot utilize any supersport to it's fullest capabilities.

I stand by my testament.

I think that Ducati looks hideous.
Give a Nighttrain if I wanted a cruiser. Yummy. |

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...g/DSCN1127.jpg i got this old pile of crap for around $250 and it was one of the most stupid fun bikes ive ever ridden. you can ask gixxer1k, even at 20hp or so i could still get a power wheelie out of it  |
I really don't agree with that. It wasn't a blanket statement. It may not be top end fast, but I bet a proper Nightrod will take allot of sportbikes, especially off the line. I stand behind my statement, so I was not "called out" on it.

I don't own one so I can't even provide physicall proof or race a 600 from here. The one I rode was insane and I would have gave my left testicle to take home. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...AyMDMuanBn.jpg If Uma was more comfortable on the vrod, I'd trade the nightster in for one. |

I will only concede that the one I rode may have had more done to it than I know of. |

I like it. I took one out for a 40 min. hooligan test ride through Scottsdale today and had a fucking blast. Good thing I can't afford it, this bike would make me do bad, bad things. It just hauls ass all the way through the rev range and has a fair amount of clearance for leaning it over. If I had money to blow on a 3rd bike like this, I'd probably do it.
|
need more info then that...
|
Looks good from that angle...
And a V-Rod would beat 99% of 600 riders, through the first 1/8th mile or so. And in city riding, that is what counts. Quarter mile times are pretty meaningless in the city. |
Personally, I like it. But then I ride an ER6n, which is also kinda funny looking to a lot of people.
