Am I The Only One?
That gets pissed when people "ghost out" on you during a ride? My GF did this three fucking times today and I about came unglued! Two of the times, there was some justification, although I still cautioned her that she needs to somehow let me know if she is stopping.
Anyone that has ridden for any amount of time knows the feeling you get in the pit of your gut when you check your mirror and someone you care about is missing...:panic: I turned around and went back to find her looking at some car for sale... I pulled a football coach maneuver, grabbed her chin guard and unloaded. If she does it again, we are done riding together, PERIOD! |

Yeah, tell her if she wants to check something out you can always turn around once she tells you her intentions. You might also consider a bike to bike intercom system if for whatever reason she regularly has to stop immediately.
|
Usually it's my fault when that happens. LOL

Watch it dude...your girlfriend can kick your ass.

maybe it's worth it for you to invest in those blue tooth intercoms...
but honestly... with a new(ish) rider... it's YOUR responsibility to make them understand what is considered bad etiquette... at least IMO |

Hopefully she'll never have to experience someone she cares about suddenly dropping out of view because they've crashed. If she really wants to stop then some way of communicating such is in order. |

Have you also explained WHY its such an issue? If you tried all that and it was still an issue, give her a taste of her own behavior. Pull over and let her panic that you aren't back there. |

What sucks about that is the amount of money I've already spent on J&M equipment...:panic: Oh and she understands all right... |

I would think some finer points need to be discussed between you two.
Uma said she wouldn't ever do that, she would have came up to me and waved about turning around... not just duck out of sight without telling me. |

I would have waited till she got on her bike, pushed her over and then I would have rode off. She might get the idea then.

Sena SMH10 http://www.senabluetooth.com/shop/shop.php# Scala G4 http://www.cardosystems.com/us/scala...er-g4-powerset I'm torn between the two because I respect Nick's opinion about the Sena BUT the Scala has a wired mic-much better for full face. The Sena offers this for another $40 ea. The Scala also claims a one mile working range vs the Sena's 1/2 mile. Plus the Scala includes a FM radio built in. I've already ordered BT dongles for my GPS and her radar detector... It's a tough call but I have some time to think. One good thing is that Ron Ayers carries the Scala, so I might try it out and if I don't like it I can return it no problem and buy the Sena. FWIW anything similar from J&M would cost about $700 not including the $200 ea headsets that I already have!!!!!!!!:panic: I have two headsets, so we would need two of these $200 ea, http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....7EDR-RCH&PF=30 I would need one of these just to get back to having my GPS(Garmin 855T) and radar detector(Valentine 1) hooked up. Basically, this replaces my current unit $300. http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....LU-DNG01&PF=30 She should be able to use a dongle for her radar detector (Escort Passport 8500) and her phone is BT. If I rewire my radar detector(V1) back to stock, I guess that I could also use dongles for it and my GPS but I would be VERY nervous!!! One positive aspect is that both the Scala and Sena units come with 3.5mm jacks that I could plug my V1 in to for added piece of mind. |

YES it would bug me if she did stuff like that. I'm with Tig...I'd get a sick feeling in my stomach thinking something bad had happened. Of course I'd be pizzed once I realized that she just happened to go sightseeing. |

They have awesome customer service. 1/2 mile sounds about right for the Sena. It's a good distance. It worked well in straight sections. You will lose signal no matter how powerful very quickly in the twisties. Even on multi-mile FRS radios, they don't work through mountains. |

Btw big sale on J&M equipment on the horizon.... |
I can hit up my friend at Newenough and see if he'll test some out. I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
|
that is one of the reasons I usually let newbies lead for a while. there is no telling what the hell they'll do sometimes and yeah I hate looking in the mirror and their gone.
