2009 Yamaha lineup will be release at 3pm EST on 8 Sep.
Just saw it on their site. Didn't specify which models, but I imagine it'll have the R6/R1 in there. Can't wait! I may have found a buyer for my bike and since I owe less that what it's worth I could actually have money to put down this time. I priced it kinda high, which includes the track goodies I have. Reason is because I kinda don't want to start a whole new financing deal on a new bike, but if he gives me what I want, it's sold. I'm asking $7,500 which includes everything I have for the street plus my track 'glass and spare set of wheels (I paid over $1,700 for all that). That'll give me a solid $2,500 to put down on a new one (R6).
Anyway, I'm setting my alarm for noon tomorrow! |
Looking forward to drooling over more things that I can't have...
|
Maybe I'm getting cheap at my old age of 27 but until I hit the lottery, I won't buy another vehicle brand new...:panic:
Since Yamaha brought out the 08 R6, the 09 shouldn't be too much of a change. If you consider the average 2 year redesign cycle of the 600's, there should be a bad ass 600RR coming! |

I probly won't even look at the website.

UGH. that green does NOT BELONG on a Honda product. I"m itchin to see what Yammi throws down this year. not that I'll have cash to do it anyways.
|
I'd ride that green bike. Fuck it.

Allow me to qualify that statement...I'd ride that green bike, if I was into that sort of thing. |
I am pretty disappointed in the colors/graphics of the 09 cbr. Im really curious to see the new R1 and GSXR1000 this year.
|
i like the green color

09 yams are up, pretty much an 08 with new colors
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr...0/gallery.aspx looks like we get blue, black, white and orange. The white would look bad ass without those ugly ass red seats. |
The R1 is different. New Euro 3 pipes on it and some minor engine and cosmetic changes. Oh and a nice $800 price increase on the R1. I love the black R6 with the gold wheels.
|
Don't forget the new selectable drive modes for the R1 just like on the GSXR's except only having 2 modes, not 3.
|
R1 has big bang firing order, same ole YTCC YICC crap and got uglier...I hope I can find a close out GSXR1000. All the new liter bikes look like crap.:panic: The new black and gold R6 is the pick o the yammies...The green and black CBR600 makes me think Monster Energy Drink and teh Blue White CBR looks like the old Konica Minolta GP paint scheme...
|
The R1 looks ok...not jumping out of my chair crazy about it but I will be interested to see some performance #'s.

I'm gonna wait til I see the new R1 in person. I didn't like the new body R6's when they came out, but when I saw it in person, I loved it.
Where the fuck is the intake on the R1, in the head light bucket area? |

And that orange r6 is badass. |

Electronic damper and weird suspension internal setup.
In keeping with this machine’s exceptional cornering ability and crisp handling, the all new aluminum frame has been designed to offer exceptional rigidity balance. The rear frame is now lightweight CF die-cast magnesium, contributing the optimum mass centralization. Suspension includes new SOQI front forks which use one of the tricks developed for our winning MotoGP bikes: independent damping. The left fork handles compression damping and the right side handles the rebound damping. And the rear shock adopts new bottom linkage for optimum suspension characteristics. Want even more? For the first time, R1 comes standard with an electronic steering damper. Intake: The side fairing is smoother for a sleeker appearance. And, instead of the usual four bulb headlight design, the ’09 model now has only two projector-type bulbs mounted closer to the nose of the bike. |
|
looks like a zx10 slipped an 08 r1 the mikey and had its way and this is the bastard child that resulted...

This is my next street ride! http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr...19/0/home.aspx
I can use my ZX6R for track days and work the highways in style...Forget about the R1/R6 track bias! |
heh that eccentric firing order is a nasty looking setup. intakes appear to be in the headlights area. that white/red is sick. now we just gotta see what zuk does.
|
it looks like a gixxer
|
The new FZ looks tight as fuck.
|
near as I can tell the intakes are literally to the outside edge of the headlights. this bike looks like a totally fucking sick beast that will just straight up RIP for street and track use.
do those dual projectors in there kinda remind anyone else of the XB12 firebolt in a way? http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/c...4_bb08da4f.jpg |

not a very good photochop, but you get the idea. Looks so much better without those crackhead red seats.
|
I wonder how the red seats will look on my Raven. I proly don't have enough red on there though.

The R1 has a gear indicator now and a completely redesigned instrument cluster that looks badass. You can only see it in the video until they throw more pics up in the gallery.
|
the half compression half rebound damping forks are gonna be interesting

meh not digging it myself. looks more difficult to read than honda and kawi. seriously, kawishould get awards for how awesome the zeds cluster is. and does it REALLY need to remind me what bike im on 24/7? |

I'll wait until I see one in person and actually sit on it/ride it before making judgement. I'm interested to see what the mags say about it when testing it also.
I'm not crazy about the initial pics BUT it may grow on me. I didn't care for the C6 Z06 when it first came out but now I want one. |

I may get a C6 Z06 one day...snap up someone's "garage queen" when prices drop more. That's how I got my C5 Z back in 2002...totally stock garage queen with 9k miles on it. I still have it but now it has been lowered and has a supercharger/cam/lightened flywheel/3:90 gears/intake and full exhaust.:dthumb: It only has around 570 hp but it's paid for. :rockwoot: http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b6...D480/ry%3D320/ http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b4...D480/ry%3D320/ http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b4...D480/ry%3D320/ Ok...ok...back on topic...well the 09 R1 looks a "little" better to me today than yesterday. :idk:  |
Quote:

haha "only 570"

As for me my ego doesn't need a massage and I need a do-it -all bike more than I need 86 ft lbs of torque so the FZ6R is right up my alley! Of course you have to understand I owned 3 of the YZF600R's, so the do-it-all concept is my background as well. |

Yes...actually was just reading that when you posted this. What I meant by mag test/articles is actual riding test as compared to the previous R1's. I'm looking forward to FastBikes...Superbike...or SportRider to thrash one and and compare it to the 07' - 08' like I have. Thanks for the link. :dthumb: |

Originally pioneered in Yamaha's YZR-M1 MotoGP missile, crossplane technology puts each crank pin 90 degrees from the next, with an uneven firing interval of 270-180-90-180 degrees. This uneven order does something pretty radical. It actually helps the power build more smoothly. That means smooth-as-silk roll-on delivery out of the corners, with bagsful of torque, followed by very strong, high-rpm power. It's like having two engines in one: the low-rpm, torquey feel of a twin combined with the hyperkinetic, high-rpm power of an inline four. As a 2009 R1 rider, you'll enjoy more linear throttle response with awesome power and traction exiting corners. Sounds good but the proof will be in the test. :dthumb: |

I'll be getting a new sportbike long before I get a new vette. |

The interior is better but still not great. I don't understand why people pay so much for Harley Davidson's...but they do. |

#1 its a higher spec of vette but its still a vette and looks enough like regular ones that non enthusiasts arent gonna be impressed. #2 90% of the folks buying them will never access those limits. now thats not usually a huge deal, hell bikes are a great example of that. however, the way chevy built that power is THE SAME EXACT WAY YOU WOULD IF YOU WERE MODDING THE CAR AFTERMARKET! as the oem (and especially one asking so much for the product) they should have added power in a way we cant. be it an lsx based v12 or some exotic unobtanium technology. to my mind theres no reason to buy the fucker and almost no reason to build it  |
|
what bike?
|
random pic jus bsing. Just thought the chic was hott
|
At first I didn't like the looks but they grew on me... I want to see one in person, all the mass centralization they did has made the bike a lot smaller and narrower. I bet it feels almost like a 600.
Not to mention the engine's gotta be a fucking BEAST. A lot of people are shitting on the looks but to me all the advancements are a lot more important... the crossplane crankshaft and uneven firing is fucking SICK. Not to mention, how the fuck could you say this doesn't look sick? http://www.motorcities.com/media/ima...n-AJ-full.jpeg |
didn't read the article yet but had to post link this bitch is the pertiest shit out so far that ive seen and yes that yami is hott looking
http://www.twowheelsblog.com/post/11...-gsx-r-1000-k9 |
FAIL just read it
|
if that was the k9, which it says its just a mock up of what it might look like, i think its the best looking liter bike out

by yearly bike standards, i'd have to say those two look nothing alike. |
i asked for the black/gold combo a bunch of posts ago, i guess they heard me lol
do we get that combo in the states? that gsxr does look fairly dif, but fuckin suzuki headlights just get worse and fuckin worse, damn. looks like some flipflop wearing mofo crashed it into the ugly wall. |

Hope the new GSXR looks that good. The way things have gone with all the OEMs they gets uglier and uglier...
The black n gold is a Euro model for now but we get a black with red hilights... |

I'm not interested in one...too much $$ BUT I bet they will have NO problem selling them especially since they are being built in limited supply. |
Really the appeal of special ed (sorry had to)vettes are no different from the Shelby Cobra GT500, the Saleen Mustang, or for that matter the Special edition Yammie R1 which came out modded with Ohlins suspension or the R7. They are limited edition bought it fast and moddified specials that will have a appeal to a certain niche of enthusiast. Performance numbers and how it ranks against it's competition (or even the regular model) doesn't really apply.
You could buy a base Mustang GT and with between $6-8000 mod it to GT 500 spec but in the end you just have a modded GT. But the Shelby GT500 badge and title mean something else all together (IMHO you spent too much). Not my cuppa I am way biased to function over form and as cheap as I can get by, but some folks (alot of them) see it different... |
Quote:
and z06boy, im sure you are right. im sure they will sell every one of em. if people are willing to drop eighty grand on a 40k dodge challenger im sure they'll be just fine. they just could have done so much more. hell. hows about a flat planed crank to make that sucker scream? oh wait i forgot its a legacy v8 vehicle (even though it started life as a six) and the old guys wouldnt be able to accept it if it wailed instead of rumbled. gay |
2009 R1 Fugly
IMO .....R1s use to be the benchmark of a sexy sportbike....
:rant:WTF happened to the 2009 R1....it looks like the offsrping of a Firebolt & R1.... Did the same clown who designed the new CBR 1000 also design the '09 R1? this has got to be just as fugly as the CBR 1k....maybe even fuglier.:hitfan::td: I was looking forward to getting a new R1...looks like I'll be waiting for the next revamp. |

I won't be buying one...can't afford it but yes I'd rock it in a heartbeat. :rockout: Quote:
That's why I bought a completely stock C5 Z06 sitting in a guys garage back in 2002 with 9k miles on it...at a good price.:dthumb: Every mod the car now has...blower...cam...intake...full exhaust...rear gears...clutch...lightened flywheel...shifter...lowered...etc...came AFTER I bought it. I couldn't afford to buy a Lingenfelter model so I bought parts here and there and ended up with about the same thing and love it....BUT at the end of the day no...it's not an actual Lingenfelter model...but I have a lot less $$ in it for basically the same thing. :dthumb: My supercharger...boost gauge and longtube headers were taken off of a Z06 at Lingenfelter and shipped to me. The rich guy that owned it decided it wasn't fast enough so he had them take it out and send it to me and went to a 427 TT. *edit* My reference to "the rich guy" is based on the fact that he also had a Ferrari and a huge house in Chicago and $$ seemed to be no issue with him. He gave me a great deal on the supercharger. |

I guarantee the first new R1 I see in black race plastics with a couple slick parts on it, I'm going to blow my load all over the place.
|
i'M CURIOUS TO SEE HOW THE TRACK 'GLASS MAKERS WORK AROUND THE HEADLIGHTS. iT'S NOT LIKE IT'S A SEALED LENS they can just make a mold over, you know? But they still have to leave the area for the intake in tact.

It's not a race car...plenty of cars around putting out bigger #'s but it sure is a fun car and since 2002 and about 44k miles very reliable. It's good for about 500 rwhp and close to that in tq. It weighs a little over 3000 lbs which isn't bad. http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b4...D480/ry%3D320/ http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b4...D480/ry%3D320/ http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b5...D480/ry%3D320/ |
