Daytona 200 SPOILER-kinda
So far it's been kinda boring but we'll see how it pans out! How about the Buell falling apart!!! Hahahahaha!
|
You know it's bad when the rider go to the pitwall for more duct tape
I've enjoyed the race :dthumb: |
it'll be interesting to see if they DQ him for the tape.
And OMG - the last commercial break I will NEVER forgive - and to come back to a CLOUD OF DIRT?!! 5 laps to go is NOT a good time for a commercial break for the love of God. |

Just what I was coming to say!!! Just when you thought they couldn't fuck up race coverage any worse BANG they go and prove you wrong! |
ok what station was it on? missed it, didn't realize it was being shown live.
Damnit! so what happened to the Buell? |

I'd have just left it, little more drag but otherwise :idk: Higbee or Barnes? |

It was an exciting race, I did enjoy the vast majority of it. |

Eslick and it was FALLING OFF with the radiator! Hey Speed is gonna show it again at 2 am. |
Quote:
and I guess the radiator may be important. Wonder how that came loose? Setting DVR now.. thanks. |

That Buell was impressive (And sounded sweet). Up until it came undone it was hanging in the front. The first ten laps were some of the best. |
The one guy crashing at the stack up when the safety car came out was nuts... Pietri's bike anally raping a lapper and then getting stuck like that was also interesting...
|
Was this race on Speed or something?
|
Yeah it was live @ 8:30 est tonight. I think someone said they are replaying it at 2 am
|
Quote:
Yea that was me...they are replaying this bitch like 10 times in the next week! |
Can I see this online anywhere?

Just watched the race, pretty good.
I think Buell will definatly put up a good showing this year. Higbee in 5th and Eslick coming back from 50th to 13th... not bad. And damn did that bike sound mean! The I4's go screaming by, then you hear the bark of the V-twins. nice. |
i got to see the last 20 laps for free at the track it was crazy how fast they were going.
i was getting motion sick trying to keep up with them |

My dad had his RV in the infield. From the roof we could see most of the track but had the best view of turn 1 until they exited onto the Speedway at Nascar 1. There was also a HUGE TV showing the SPEED coverage right in front of us. All in all it was a great race. I was bummed to see Hayes crash out right at the end there. |

ya i was up there all weekend after the race i met up with toadster to get a wristband for the honda lot because i was at the track all day saturday for the supercross i just got back late last night |

How did they come up with those results? Barrett Long, a local guy finished 6th. Congrats to him but the day of the race they had him in 17th place. They show 0 laps for Eslick and while he had problems he was on the track for at least 75% of the race from what I recall. I'm sure there are other discrepancies but those were the first two I noticed. |

From your professionally managed DMG race series...
With a little help from Superbike Planet Daytona 200 Results Still Provisonal by dean adams Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Some of the things you'll see only at Daytona include a rolling start, single-file re-starts and a fan wearing a KFC bucket as his hat. image by ray tubbs As of last night, the results of last Friday's Daytona 200 were still provisional which makes some believe that when the official and final results are posted that some of the running order may change. Don't expect DMG to name a new winner, but there have been accusations since the race ended that many riders made illegal passes during the yellow-flag/safety car period of the race. One rider has already been disqualified: Buell rider Dan Eslick actually led the race and seemed to have the race well in hand before parts started falling off his Buell, a situation that led him to pit early. Yards of duct tape were used in an attempt to keep the Buell from shelling parts. Eslick and his 1100cc twin rejoined the race, but even with nearly double the displacement of the 600s he was racing against, Eslick seemingly needed even more of an advantage. After the race he was disqualified by the AMA/DMG for passing multiple riders during the caution period. ENDS |

Interesting. Thanks for the update. I'm still confused about some of the postioning but some of it is cleared up. With the new rules, full course yellows, pace car, pits stops, etc.. you'd think the big teams would have hired some type of "DMG coach." Basically someone to teach the rider(s) what is the appropriate course of action in a given situation. |
I doubt DMG knows what to do in a particular given situation...They are going to do like NASCAR and make it up as they go along...A real sanctioning body would have clear definitive rules and procedures prior to their first big event...Ah but the season is long....
I wonder alot why they felt they had to go and try to reinvent the wheel?:idk: |

Well,I like T. Hayden's statement that he didn't understand how the starting lights worked... That's the kind of crap that causes accidents. Oh well,I'm not sure, you may know SM,but I'm hoping that this "cluster-fuck" style of race management was a one-off deal for the 200. |
