What rubber do you use
I'm the only one that I know of that is running some Dunlop D616's on the forums I"m part of. I personally like them. They grip and my rear doesnt feel like its gonna come loose when I lean like my Dunlop qualifiers.
I've done over 500 miles so far and they feel just like the day I bought them. I'm hoping I get some good mileage out of them. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ew004Small.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ew008Small.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ew007Small.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ew006Small.jpg So what are you using? |
Pirelli Corsa III.
|
Current is Pilot Powers on the Buell and Pilot Roads on the SV.
I like the Powers now that the squirmishness is out of them... Haven't had a chance to really push them though. I haven't ridden the SV since the new tires, so you'd have to ask comonboys... but she seems to like them I had Corsa III's on the Buell stock... LOVED them, stuck like glue, but wore too fast for commuting uses. |
Just put some bridgestone bt016s on but I only have about 15 or 20 miles on them. Once I get over being sick and the weather is decent Ill have a review for them.
|
I have the fairly new Dunlop Roadsmarts, basically because while I do alot of back road and mountain twisty riding, I also use my bike to commute to work weather permitting which is 60 miles round trip, on the slab it would not take long to wear through a softer compound tire.
|
im on pilot sports now but may be moving to diablo rossos if that sale tigger posted holds out for my frakin' refund check
'course my original thoughts at the thread title had me ready to state that im a trojan man  |
Trojan XLs or Magnums.

ha I tried those on my GSXR.... NO SON! Way too tall but they were GREAT in the rain, which isn't surprising since they are Dunlops rain tire with Med compund rubber for better mileage. Right now,I'm using Bridgestone BT-016s ($189 ftw)and they are ok. Normally,I'm a Pirelli fan but I couldn't turn them down for the price! I plan on hitting it hard tomorrow so I'll try to keep you all posted. Besides,I re-sprung my bike front and back and finally installed my GoPro Hero on my bike,so I have a few "reviews" to do.:rockwoot: BTW I ordered a set of the Rosso's,that's a fucking deal and a half! Um I posted the Diablo Corsa's for $200 a set right? |
Firm believer in Pilot Powers, but I'm currently giving the new Bridgestone BTO16s a go. Still not totally sure on the verdict yet. One thing I could tell off the bat was that the Bridgestones need more heat to function at their best. No real slip issues or anything yet.

Corsa III's..
|
Bridgestone BT003R
|
I run Continental Sport Attacks on the sv.
|
The RC is shod with Pilot Powers right now. Once I get my spare rims straightened the I'll toss some Pirelli's on them and see what those feel like. It had abused battlax (sp?) tires on her when I first bought her, but I'll reserve my opinion for later because I've had a lot of repairs to do. I'll post up back to backs of the Pirelli's and Michelins next year when I get both sets of wheel back and with decent rubber on them. I don't ever expect more than 5k out of a set of tires on the RC.
The VTX gets Dunlop D404s iirc and they last about 13k miles with how I ride. |
I've got Dunlop Qualifiers on right now... they'll stay until I make it up to TN before the rally... gonna throw some Powers on I think.

How do those feel? Grippy? I was gonna get some but I've seen bad things on Continental vehicle tires. |
I have a Dunlop on the front...and a Bridgstone on the back...I really should get matching tires.
|
Diablo Rosso. I'll need another set before the rally, should get ~5,000 on them. Amazing mileage compared to the Roads and 020s that sucked for grip and only got 7,500 miles on.

Avon Storms or Michelin Pilot Road 2's.

Pilot Race
|
Just bought a Dunlop Qualifier for the Back..I was on Battlax's Before...
|
The qualifiers just didnt seem to last on my heavy girl. Must be the POWA!!!!! LOL
The rear would have a flat spot in 3 months. Pretty sure I'll never go back to them. |
I had a good run with them on my Old bike...So I figured Ill give them a go again on the new one...They were a good deal so If i dont like them I can always switch and not feel bad about speding money on a tire I dont like.
|
I ran Dunlops and liked them until the new series Pirellis..
|
I'm a fan of Pilot Powers.

Corsa IIIs are my favorite, regular PPs a close second, I hated PP 2CTs. They transition really shitty. regular PPs are much better in the rain and heat up faster, corsa IIIs when hot are nice and sticky.
|
I wanted Pilot Road 2's when I was due for tires. I was told by a few vendors that the were on "indefinite backorder". I ended up going with Pilot Power 2CTs.
|
Jt... You might try the pirelli diablo strada's. They're pirellis sport touring tire.. They're what I had on my Indy trip. I liked them a lot... Good transition... And after all the superslab I hit... Just a slight hint of flat spotting.
|
Resurrecting this thread, because I just noticed it. The Shinko tires I have provide excellent wear, feel similar to Michelin Pilot Sports, and for about half the cost. I got the front for $150 and the rear for under $100 at the dealership.http://www.mawonline.com/photos/shin...dvnc_tires.gif

Pirelli Sport Demons (100/90-18, 130/90-17) :)
|
Pilot Road 2CTs. They're the most brilliant tires I've ever used without exception. I ride a high-torque bike in some pretty terrible conditions and I can tell you this- they are awesome in the rain, in the dry, commuting, canyon riding, and track riding. They weren't cheap (especially for an 18" wheel), but they are worth every penny.

I had some sport demons on my ninja 250. Nice tires. Wish they made them for my vfr wheel size. |
[QUOTE=Rangerscott;207867]Bet they wear fast against asphalt.
With the proper amount of lube nothing wears, it just gets a bit slippery |
Corsa III's, on my third set, stick like glue, dont last for shit, but neither does anything else on the rear of this bike

BT021's both front and rear. I was wearing through the BT014s in less than 3000miles. The BT021's are sporttouring compound but have been great so far. Had them on for the rally down in Suches and they stuck like glue. Over 2500 miles so far and not a sign of wear
|
My rear D616 is worn out so its tire time. Winter is around the corner i dont want to spend money on a good set just to let the winter weather screw them up. So, im looking at some shinkos. I know the ravens are good but they are a harder compound for mileage. Anyone know which shinko tire is soft-medium. Need them to heat up somewhat quickly too.
If your gonna post that shinko is shit then dont even bother. Ive bought several things that are "shit" and have lasted. |
Fwiw you can get Q2s for about $200 a set.

Bridgestone 003 mediums. Just got back from the Gap and they were nice and predictable. They didn't last for shit though.

I'm on a set of Pirelli MT21s now. Probably doesn't matter much to most of you. :D

Corsa III's currently with a set of Q2 sportmax sitting behind me here in the office waiting to go on Corsa III's great for the track, but ONE weekend of riding with my buddies in the mountains (that involved about 100 miles of hiway) ate the centers up. Had a total of 700 miles on the Corsa III's |

Dunlop Q2's. Love them on the track....not so much on the street.
Before that I was using Bridgestone Bt016's. They were okay. Great mileage, but take a long time to heat up and I found that they were either on or off. There was no slippage....there was either on or off. BT003rs for pure track. LOVE them. |
Had Pilot Powers on the R1 and Dunlop Qualifiers on the R6 and switched to PP 2CT's on both.
