This Saturday my beloved Boo Bikey will make his return to the road once again.

It's turning into an expensive season already. With my Deals Gap trip planned for May I had lots of stuff done this winter.

Valve check, fluid change out, new tires (front & rear), spark plugs, oil change, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Me and my boyfriend will be re-united again!

t-homo 04-15-2009 01:26 PM

Congrats! It feels great the first time you get back on the bike. Be safe this season.

I always feel a little funny on my first ride....like I'm going to forget how to do it or something. Two new tires though makes me a little nervous.

t-homo 04-15-2009 01:42 PM

Take it slow the first day. It'll come back to you soon enough.

Hey Kel. I had new tires put on too - in February, and rode home in the rain. mmmm new tires in rain in 30 degree weather! I didn't have far to go though. HA

Thats about what I did a few weeks ago too. Brand new bt016s that are said to be slick when cold and I rode home in rain an about 40*.

CrazyKell 04-15-2009 02:17 PM

Isn't he pretty?

If I were you I'd take the passenger pegs off for a cleaner look.

Yeah I tried to get them off but couldn't even get them to budge...so that was the end of that little project. :lmao:

Now you're commited to it!

I just emailed my mechanic and asked him to take them off before I come and pick it up.

Agreed. Looks nice as it is though too.

racedoll 04-15-2009 08:57 PM

I always feel a little nervous on the first ride too, except for last year. I didn't get those jitters, I just rode like it had been a couple weeks or so.

Sixxxxer 04-16-2009 12:16 AM

Im Jealous.

Well only for a Little bit...Then I realize I have black rearsets from the factory and its not to bad ;)

So uh, whens our first date?? You know my bike and your bike are meant for each other :)

CrazyKell 04-16-2009 08:21 AM

How the heck did you get black rear sets?

Passenger pegs are OFF! New front is now on. He's ready to ride!

azoomm 04-16-2009 08:28 AM

Awww Kel!! That's awesome :) I remember that first ride of the season... take it nice and easy. It all comes back, there's a reason they say "it's like riding a bike"

Apoc 04-16-2009 08:28 AM

Weve got another month before its actually riding season here, theres still 2 1/2 feet of snow. Butt its warm and the snow is soft and rotten so its no good for snowmobiling :(

I got out twice this year, for a couple of km each time.

Oddly it hasn't bothered me for the past couple of years because while I was in England riding "season" for me was only a month long. I rode my ass off for that month but it was finite.

Being as it's my first winter back in Canada...it's killing me. ALL I want to do is ride these days!

CrazyKell 04-16-2009 09:10 AM

Oooh and a local gear shop is having their tent sale this weekend.....this could be dangerous!

No, it would be safer. Though, it could get VERY expensive.

Good point!

I'm bringing the catalogue with me with all the pages of stuff I want dog-eared. I can't wait.

All I'm really looking for is a new jacket and maybe some casual clothes. The rest can wait. Oh and I wore my hair in a high ponytail today to stop me from buying a helmet!

ontwo 04-16-2009 10:20 AM

That is a sharp ride you got there. Good luck at the sale

It came like that..Duh. :rockwoot:

And like everyone said...it will come back to you, its hard to forget how to ride these things even if you go a few months without doing so.

Let us know how the first ride goes!

CrazyKell 04-20-2009 09:07 AM

My boyfriend and I have been reunited.

Was out for a few hours on Saturday. New tires feel great....only hit one slippery spot and it was sandy so I doubt it was the tires.

Sunday was too cold to ride and it's pouring rain now but I can't wait to get back into the swing of things.
