I've driven a friend's GT-R twice now, and they're crazy fast!!! Def. a badass car for the $$$.

whats that car got? maybe 400hp at the wheels? your Kawi would smoke it's ass BAD!

I got a buddy with a Supra(bout 650hp) and i kill him in a staight line, he said he'd have to have bout 1000HP to hang with the 1000....but

my bike cuts off at 186mph, and i've seen the supra hit 200 and ran out of room!

Antwanny 05-18-2009 10:20 PM

Yea im pretty sure i woulda gien him a run for his money without the gf,(on the TL) No doubt the kawi would have dropped a dequce in his cherios he hit the off ramp (onto another freeway) at about 130 i think i hit it around 105. I was behind him when he hammered it and it sounded like pure sex.

EDIT, I was mistaken: about 430 at the wheels - in stock form, before modification.

The Supras are badass, no doubt, and have more power potential than the old Z's - but they make about 320hp stock, and are also RWD.

With AWD & unprecedented traction control provided by the dual clutches & viscous limited slip, plus launch control (3.3s 0-60!) - the GTR provides all-around performance that 'old school' supercars can't touch.

Now, you reckon the 'tuner' crowd might also get ahold of them and nudge the hp numbers a bit further north?...
How about a bolt-on kit good for 820 hp? (@ the crank, prob ~700 wheel)

How much work & $$$ did it take to get your buddy's Supra to 650hp?

not sure how much money it took to get it there, but i dont think a crazy amount, biggest part was probably switching from twin-turbo, to a big single turbo, not sure what kind of engine work, but i know its a stock bottom end.

its crazy fast, but it handles UNREAL

Kerry_129 05-21-2009 02:03 PM

Yeah, come to think of it the REALLY high hp (and $$$) Supras are putting out 1000+ hp - awesome cars/motors.

I think the bestt thing about the GTR (based on reviews I've read & Top Gear) is the extreme handling/traction control which allows a $70k street-car to perform on-par or better than far more expensive 'supercars' (race-cars in street trim).

Myself, I'm going to have to be content with my raggedy old ~400hp '90 300ZX-TT for a while. Like your buddy's Supra but to a lesser degree - the power is good, but the handling is grrrrreat (especially for ~10k & nearly 20 y/o!)

Sixxxxer 05-22-2009 10:49 AM

You have a 90 300zx and I didnt know the entire trip??!!...Damn you!!! Im a HUGE Car guy at heart

Kerry_129 05-22-2009 03:06 PM

Oh yeah - haven't done a whole lot with it since picking it up in late '07 other than installing a Tein coilover set w/ EDFC. But it's in very good shape for it's age w/ the 'basic' mods done already & I'm looking forward to making a great 'project' out of it. :D
