Test rode a B-King
I had to take my Goldwing in for an inspection (god I love that couch rocket)
So I took it to the Dealer I bought Busa from as he is local and not to bad a sort. Sitting on his floor is two 08 B-Kings (yes I know they now longer import them to the states.) He asked me if I wanted to test ride one while I waited (anyone who knows me knows I will test ride a Honda 50 if you ask me twice) So I pick the one that has the Two Brother Slip Ons that clean up that silly looking ass end. The they role it out of the show room then fire it up. Ok WOW 1340 ccs snap to life ( with a capital SNAP) Climbing on to it the first thing I noticed was How similar the seating position is to the KTM 990 Super Duke. I was surprised by how comfortable it was because the tank from the the front appears very wide but its bulk disappears once you are on the bike. As I left the dealer ship I surprised myself with a roll on leaving the lot. Looking down I was at 60. Throttling back, I rolled out to the first stop sign and turned onto a nice little secondary road. This thing puts far more torque down low then the first Gen Busas. Brakes are better as well. This thing wants to run and run hard. The wheel base and gearing make it a wheelie monster. While 100lbs heavier and 2.5 inches longer then the Super Duke it simply doesn't feel it. I snaps through the Turns like a much smaller machine and because you are getting around 160 RWHP stock she will more then take back anything in the straights you give a way in the turns. I think I have found my next bike. Any one need a VIctory or a Ducati? |
It is a blast to ride. Too bad it looks like Decepticon doo... And that tank width never "disappeared" for me.

I do need a Duc. Too bad my wife disagrees.

OK so I went back and rode the B-King again today. I had it out for about 1 1/4 hours over a pretty wde mix of of surface and condtions. Long and short it wow! What a great ride! I know that this thing is ugly as a mud fence but dam it fits me well and has in credible power plant (Stock Numbers 162 RWHP and 100 Ft Lbs of torque) Since the one I was riding had the Two Borthers Carbon Cans and tailight it was less hidous than the stock one. So after talking numbers and making a deposit I will be trading the 999 on wed.

BKing is a more utilitarian ride, and I feel that entirely! |

nice bike, I only hate the mufflers, so yours looks damn fine! |
That looks pretty damn good from that angle.

Hey as someone who rides something most people don't like, I say go for it! You have to be happy with your bike and no one else. Besides, I'm sorry but they don't get much uglier than a 999 IMHO...:idk:
I had the same problem in '99 when I wanted to get rid of my '97 YZF1000. I wanted a "Hypersport" but hated the looks of the "Busa" and didn't want a Honda, especially with linked brakes. So I put money on the ZX12. Well, after a year of delays and problems, I finally broke down and bought that fugly 'Busa. Looks aside, it was possibly the best "streetbike" I've ever owned.:rockwoot: |
People always say the 999 is ugly and that the 1098 is magically the world's best looking bike :lol
There are so many 1098's running around, they've become boring to me. I would actually rather have a 999 so I could be different. |

But then again, I think the busa and B-King look good too. |

Until you look at it from a head-on view, of course :p |

Congrats Rick...glad to see it all work out for you. Hopefully I'll get to ride it one day as I did the Duc and I definitely appreciated it.
Yamaha's got the V-Max and now Suzuki has the Mad-Max...I mean B-King. |

One of our bike nights a week ago had so many GSXR's...mainly Busa's with fat tire kits that I couldn't believe it. There were several other bikes as well but the GSXR's were in full force...stretched...lowered...and big tires.
Plenty of cruisers as well...overall it was a good mix. |
