rust in gas tank
I was going to start assembling the fuel tank I boutght last year and was reinspecting it and noticed a little rust on the inside. It was my fault since I didnt cover the openings and it sat in my garage all winter. Its not a tremendous amount but would like to remove it or recoat it.
So any suggestions on th ebest way to acomplish this. |
i used a kreem kit.
my guess would be for a lil rust, u dont need to do the whole "inner tank coating" just the first step or two that gets rid of the rust. but i did the whole thing about ten years ago, on a tank that was 20yrs old. havent ever had a problem since. |
Electrolysis.

If any is flaking off then get some chain or some good size nuts (I can provide these), or pellets and shake the shit out of the tank. Chain or big nuts would work best with the weight of them.
Then do a liner. |

That happened to my Hyo a few months after buying it. Apparently it was on recall and my dealer didn't tell me when i bought it. When I found out i only had a week left to get it fixed. Glad i caught it when i did they replaced the whole tank.

Ok I got the kreem kit my only thing is I need some suggestions on how to stopper up the opening on the bottom where the fuel pump goes in. I can use some rubber stoppers to plug up the 2 smaller openings but cant think of anything to cover that esp since I will have the tank sitting with that on the bottom.
