I remember hiking in the Rockies with my cousin, who was a park ranger at some point, and I was asking her what to do if we ran into bears. I don't think I got a very clear answer but when we got back home she gave me the book "When Bears Attack" and that was exactly it: there was no one right thing to do. Some bears would attack if you played dead, some would attack if you ran, etc etc

I gave up and figured, same as when you dive, you don't have to be faster than the bear... just faster than your hiking buddy :lol:
