R6s?

I know it's an old design, but if you could get one for a good price -new- would it be a good bike?

:idk:

It's not an odd design at all -- it's the '02-'04 (I think those are the years) R6. It was a great bike, so rather than retiring it when they redesigned the R6, they made it the R6S.

Seriously a great bike (it's actually on my short list for when I upgrade). Not quite as screamin fast as the new R6, but also not as extreme of a riding position - it's a bit more comfortable. Where the R6 is a kick-ass track machine, the R6S would make a great daily rider, IMO.

yes and what she said

I read an article (in Cycle World maybe?) that compared the new R6 to the old (R6S). They liked the older one better, saying that the new needed a sprocket change to bring the power to streetable RPMs, and a set of heibiars to make it more comfortable.

You will like a GSXR 750 much better

Seriously, R6S would be a good ride

That may be the one from sport rider where they compared a new r6 vs an r6s and an 03 gsxr 1000 vs a 06 gsxr 1000.

shit I have the "old" Zx6r from 02... now called the ZZR600... I love my bike... only drawback is it's carbed... but even that isn't a huge deal as the carbs are awesome. the nice thing is it's not classified as a SS anymore with some insurance companies...

the R6S would be a excelent bike... talk to DLit... he had one (when it was an R6) with like 30K on it

It's still a solid street and track bike, but they kept the design going because the R6 is geared for the track and experienced riders. So the R6S is there for the street with its more comfortable riding position. I had one when it was a R6 back in '04 to Jun '06. I put 19.5k miles onit in that time. Towards the end I started getting serious about getting faster and I traded it for a new R6. Not a bigger bike, but a better one. Where the new R6 is more of a track beast, it is still plenty good on the street just like the R6S is more for street but doubles as a very capable track bike also. I know a guy who runs 1:23's on his '04 R6 while I'm running 1:26's. It all comes down to experience because almost nobody will ride to the full potential of either R6.

To answer your would it be a good bike question, yes. It would be an awesome bike.
