How many miles do you go before you change your fork oil?

Well I just rolled over 35k and my left fork was leaking (well...for a year now) and it turned into a gusher.
The oil in the left fork looked like crude oil and smelled like death. It was bad, so bad it gave me a headache. The right fork was changed I'm guessing cause it had a light light red/gold color. I have non-inverted forks and cartridges inside so its pretty easy for me. |

I changed mine at roughly 19000 miles. I busted both fork seals on these damn rough roads here. I was NOT HAPPY!

Being my 10's fork oil has probably never been changed in 23 years and 39k miles, its likely due to be done.
