Default My iPhone won't store pictures

So I have an iPhone 3g, which is the most awesome thing ever. But for some reason, I can't put photos on it. It'll keep pictures taken with the phone, but I can't use iTunes to put the other photos on there. Here's a brief synopsis.

1. When my iPhone is connected to iTunes and I go to the photo tab I can select the folders in my pictures I want to sync. But when I check one of them and it displays the number of pictures in the checked folder, it always says 99, no matter how many files are actually in the folders selected.

2. If I restore the iPhone it'll put the pictures on correctly. Problem is the next time I sync they're gone again.

I've deleted and reinstalled iTunes, even to deleting the registry keys, but the same thing keeps happening. Also checked for viruses and spyware first, should be clean.

Any ideas?

Have you tried going back to an older version of iTunes?

Whenever this kind of thing happens, I just hand it all over to my husband and he waves a magic wand over it and fixes it.

You should get either a smart husband or a magic wand.

I know sometimes the ITunes updates can cause this to happen. It happened to me on the last version, I just stopped syncing till they came out with a new version. Call support, maybe they can assist.

Turns out the damn thing was too full. The phone wants to reserve a certain amount of unused space for downloads and app data, but during a restore it doesn't care about that, it puts on what you tell it to. When you run out of room it kills podcasts first, photos next. The podcasts it turns the sync off, the photos it hangs onto until room is available. So now I'm good, just had to delete a little porn.
