New 5.0 for your project?
I think this would be great in a musclecar restomod project like a mid-to-late-60's Falcon or even a Mercury Cougar.

Initial car purchase
body work drive train selection/build-up/tuning suspension/chassis modifications interior update/modernization/audio system top notch brakes/rolling stock to complement new found performance for the old gal quality paint job addition of power windows/vintage air/etc. making it an enjoyable daily driver capable car I don't see $7k getting that done. As I said it depends on the goals the owner/builder has in mind for the project. |

I'd rather do the hot cam LS3 with 480hp or, if I had a big budget, a GM E-Rod engine package to make sure my project would be emissions compliant.

Again, it's about your goals for the project. If my goal was for a cheap little hot rod, the $7k would go a long way. However, when I finally do get around to starting my project car, I will be going for something a bit more substantial than that.

For $7,000 I could have paint, wheels, tires, interior, suspension and engine rebuild w/ power adder plus money for gas and maybe a cage. My toes would be tickling high nines at least low 10's, I think. Dont forget, with that engine you need an alternator and a computer, prolly a big stuff? So add another chunk. If its for a restomod or street/strip car go to a junkyard and get an engine from a newer Lincoln LS or a Marauder or a 351 truck engine and have it rebuilt with quality parts and you could get all of the accessories and whatever you need and save some cash.
