Ohhhh boy.... I think I'm hooked
Well.... had my first time playing in the dirt with my buddy Scott yesterday (who's been riding dirt pretty much his whole life... rides an FZ1 too). We went to a place here locally, neither of us had been there so we wanted to check it out. He didn't really like it cuz it was so rutted up from the ATV's, and how much it cost to get in ($12 each), but it was still fun. I ate it twice first time out, both times pretty much popping out of a rut, but by the second time we went out was getting the hang of it and learning where not to go, and getting alot more comfortable (and even a little faster.... but I'm still crazy slow, heh). Definitely A LOT different from street bike riding, for sure! Still had a great time though.... my body hurts though... everywhere
I rode the KTM.... LOVED the bike, amazing how much instant power out of a little 200cc. So it looks like that will prob be my next purchase..... lol. As if I needed a new hobby to make my wallet even thinner than it already is

If I had enough property to ride on, I'd probably own a dirt bike. But I don't really have access to property where I can ride.

I sold my sportbike and bought a DS. Couldn't be happier.

Theres lots of ways to ride dirtbikes... Motocross, trail riding, uphill(good luck here TX) flat track, supermoto and even trials. WE love jumping and racing, but most of our other dirt friendlys like the trails. I only like that on the MTB. But theres lots of ways to ride the cheapest, most durable bikes around. |

Maybe the street would work... offroad proved to be too much damn work and I was pretty sure I was going to damage myself in a painful and debilitating fashion. At least on the MTB I can only go as fast as my legs or gravity can accelerate me and the vehicle's weight doesn't pose a significant threat in crashes.

This is how I grew up, make sure to get your kids into it someday. The will be much smarter on a road bike when the time comes.
