Any motorcycle shops/stores closed recently in your area?

There's been a few around here to close for sure, plus gear and accessory-wise they have to compete with the online sources.

Sure, tons of them. As for parts & gear, I don't buy anything in a store anymore.

In the Toronto area, over the last few years, we lost a shop that had been open almost 100 years (McBride Cycle), one that had been open more than 40 years, and the one where I bought my first bike in 1984. These were 3 of the largest shops in the greater Toronto area. Honda, Suzuki, and BMW are pulling bike sales back to car dealerships, in order to create "superstores."

Only one store in my area has closed in recent time and that was the Triumph dealer downtown; they closed their doors about a year ago now. My understanding is that it was due to the owner having health issues and wanting to get out of the business as well as the fact that they wouldn't budge on their prices on bikes. The Yamaha / Suzuki store near my house bought out their stock and added Triumph to their offerings.

I'm incredibly surprised that this little shop near my office hasn't closed yet. It's called "She Rides" and it's obviously geared towards female riders. Thing is, no matter what time of day I drive by that place, it's NEVER open. The closed sign is always up. I've tried stopping by there several times to see what they have for Lisa and have never found them open. They seem to still be in business though, as the store is still stocked and shows signs of life and they seem to have electric still on. I don't get it....How can a specialty store like that stay in business when it's seemingly never open?

1) cuz it doubles as someone's home

Are you talking about the Triumph/Ducati on Piedmont/Cheshire? If so then they failed for many reasons. Shitty service (people would drive to Watkinsville 50miles away for Ducati stuff) was one of them. Location sucked. Why would any sane mid-30s married man drag his wife to a location surrounded by massage parlors and strip clubs (infact it is now a massage parlor and oxygen bar)? And I believe they didn't negotiate worth a damn. Buddy of mine was looking into Ducs and stormed out of that place pissed off.

BMW Atlanta I think took the Ducati line. Which is good because htey are good people.

Triumph in Cumming closed but I forgot why. Moto400 I believe took their line.

Infact a few small motorcycle stores have popped up around us. Then the countless scooter places in Midtown have been doing great. Hell Riders Hill in Dahlonega took MV Agusta and MotoGuzzi recently.

Damn, the Atlanta motorcycle market seems to be kicking ass now that I think about it. Shit the asshole sales people here still treat their bikes like they are made of gold and blow jobs.

These are the stores I was talking about in my post. The Triumph dealer in downtown Cumming closed because the old guy had health problems in addition to the fact that they weren't moving enough bikes because they wouldn't budge on the MSRP price. Moto 400 took their stock and added Triumph to their business. Moto 400 seems to be doing quite well.
