Blu-ray discs cracked from Netflix...
5 out of the first 6 blu-ray discs I got from Netflix have a small crack in them - see this page for perfect example.
Just wondering how many of you have been having the same problem. Pretty fuggin' annoying. |

waste of money, too expensive for how short this technology will last. On demand will replace everything shortly.

I probably won't upgrade to Blu-Ray for some time, so I have no personal experience to add to this, but I can tell you that optical discs are recorded from the center outward, and that any cracks towards the outside of the disc are unlikely to affect the data, unless the disc is very full.
You can usually see where the pits are burned on the disc. If the data doesn't come all the way to the crack, it should be fine. That said, it would appear that some processing equip. is mishandling the discs.

So far, only one of them played OK - the one with the smallest crack heh
FWIW - I picked up Sony blu-ray player for only 229 and blu-ray access in netflix is a whopping 1.00 a month extra - neither of the two will impact my life/budget so whatever. This wasn't intended to be a debate over blu-ray being worth the money. |

Well, I hate Netflix and don't have anything HD. I guess this post was pointless.

I'll keem my DVD collection and not buy into the HD and blu ray crap to begin with. thank you very much. as was said already, on demand will replace that soon anyhow.
I'm going to say some machine somewhere in the netflix processing center is malfunctioning/broke/not running right. |
