Tire prices (again)
Ok, so I need tires again and I'm poor. I don't need them right away, but sometime in the next couple of months I really have to get something for the 636. I'm going to be riding it back and forth to work a lot, so lots of highway mileage.
I'm partial to the Michelin Pilot Road 2's, as I've used them before and really really liked them. I've also heard good things about the Dunlop Roadsmarts. Anybody know of any killer deals on either of those right now? Winter is rapidly approaching, so I'm guessing prices will drop in the next couple of months, right? Should I wait until November or (if I can make it that long) December? Alternatively, there are some pretty decent track orgs around here, which should mean plenty of availability for take-offs. That might be a winner for commuting duty, right? What does everyone think?

I had BT016's (dual compound) on mine and had great mileage and wear out of them. They'd be good for the type of riding you're going to be doing.
Not sure of any deals on them but I've seen them going for cheap. |

I have run two seats of Dunlop Roadsmarts on my Hayabusa and they are pretty good tires.
I got 15k out of the first set. I'll get back to you on the second. LOL Cycle Gear has put them on sale several times over the last few months for $210~. You'll have to figure out the mounting after that though obviously, as that price is just for tires.

Really not interested in the BT016, though. Those things were the most garbage tires I've ever ridden on.

I only include the 016 since Kelly mentioned she liked them. I've never had them, the front doesn't come in my size and I don't want to change. I don't like change. |

Not calling you out but I find this really hard to believe. If you didn't like them that's fine. But they're not a garbage tire (new ones at least). Every single person I know who's had them has absolutely loved them. |

Haven't tried the dual compunds, just the old ones about five or six years ago. Hated them. No feedback, terrible traction, and really weak treadwear. I haven't ridden on Bridgestones, since. It sounds like they've improved dramatically in the last couple of years, it might be time to give them another shot. Still, I'm really not sure if I can ever trust anything Bridgestone after having so many bad experiences with them.

I really liked the dual compounds and got many miles out of them (another bonus for the street). If you find a deal on them they might be worth a shot. |
