Metal fans....come inside
I bought my wife Mastodon's "Crack The Skye" album. Holy shit, phenominal. Really really good, not super heavy and sorta laid back. Tremendous album. Worst part about it: Only has 7 songs. But 6 of them are excellent songs and 1 is ok. I wasn't a fan of theirs before. Might have to re-explore their old stuff.
Album cover: And for those looking for a little taste: Oblivion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6WGNd8QR-U

I'll have to check it out.
Mastadon has been a weird band for me. Everyone raves about them, but I just can't really get into it. Between the Buried and Me has a new one out too. I don't have it but I heard some of the songs performed live. Good if your into that style of music. |

My wife has the new Between the Buried and Me...she loves it. I've never been fan of theirs either, but I'm coming around to some of the new stuff.

Aside from the fact that they have a bear on the cover, as opposed to a mastodon, and that their tempo changes were engineered by Helen Keller, and the song is a total snooze fest, I'd have to agree with the people who made the video:

The new album is pretty good but I'm with Unknown on this. The older was faster and heavier but just as technical. You guys need to check out Leviathan and Remission...

Wow... Most of what Marko posts is a little too hard core metal for my tastes, but this isn't bad.

I heard a few songs from them, but never really bothered looking for more. Since I saw the commercials about them going on tour with Dethklok though it kind of made me want to hear more. Glad you posted this.
