New Orleans tips
I'm heading to New Orleans this weekend, short trip - get there Friday evening and head back Sunday afternoon. We will be staying on/close to Bourbon Street on Friday and Saturday night - are there any restaurants or bars that are a must do?
I'm heading out with a few buddies that have been many times before but I'm just looking for any suggestions. Thanks. |

lol agreed, that's my hometown, it's a shithole.
The commercialized crap is all in the french quarter. You aren't going to find the great food there. Find some dive near the water that gets their seafood from somewhere nearby. Pretty much a good way to find cheap good seafood. I really enjoy the WWII museum, the higgins boats are cool The zoo is awesome, espcially the gator/snake exhibit. The aquarium is pretty cool City Park is nice drive through. Magazine Street shops are unique and different and I like to go there more than the French quarter. Plus there is a lot of good walking in this area to look at the New Orleans homes. A stop at Cafe du Monde for coffee with chicory and beignets is a must. New Orleans Food and Spirits is a decent place for lunch Deanies on the lake is where you go to get fat. Huge plate of fried seafood. My favorite places to eat are closely held secret. Seriously, watch where you go at night. Stay in the commercialized areas. That's the only places the cops give a damn about. Know where you are going at night and verify with someone local that your path is good. Protect your wallet and purse. Pick pockets are crazy good in this town.

Thanks for the tips...we will actually be heading up to the LSU game Saturday evening so we will have a bit of time to squeeze in some things on Saturday morning/early afternoon. The WWII museum sounds like a winner to me.
