The best place I've found for used trackbikes is here, a wera site where racers and trackdayers post up their pimped out track bikes. That's where I found my bike for a pretty good deal with all the mods already done to it. The bikes sold there are by mostly honest people looking for a fair price, lots of bikes with 3+ grand of aftermarket for not much above bluebook. Beware of bikes that have seen a lot of tracktime, obviously.
I tell people looking for a bike to check there and just google suzuki forums, kawasaki forums, sportbike forums, and in separate parenthesis put a general description of the kind of bike your looking for "2005 kawasaki" "zx" etc etc. I spent weeks doing that until I found one I liked but I was very particular in what I was looking for. Seemed to me that most bikes on craigslist are sold by people wanting too much or arent very knowledgeable about bikes. Ebay struck me as the ripoff mecca, full of blinged out or stunted to shit bikes. Cycletrader is almost all dealers or people wanting way too much for their bike.
