I'm old enough to remember when you called people that spoke spanish, "Spanish people".
We didn't have any of this damn latino\latina crap. The only variations were "Those damn Puerto Ricans" and "Mexicans" carry on.. |

Back then you really just had Mexicans. Over the years the very individualistic and proud South and Cental Americans arrived from Honduras, Nicaraugua, and Cuba. These folks are very culural and patriotic to their own unique heritages and we as the melting pot had to change our definitions to avoid offending the folks that couldn't see themselves as American even though they attained citizenship...
