Are you talking about Future Shop? Or do we have Best Buy in Canada now too? Future Shop is owned by Best Buy, and they are essentially the same store. Or so I was told buy a FS manager.

You are correct that Best Buy and Future Shop are essentially the same company. I bought a TV at Best Buy and had to pick it up at the Future Shop warehouse in Brampton.

Ya, the manager of the FS in moncton used to come to the bar I worked at. I was asking him about pricing (I was looking for a tv), and he said he'd even match an american best buy price because they were the same store.

Most stores will do this. Unless the customer is acting like a dick.

They tend to drop the price if it's a big item like a tv but they can be a "dick" to you with small items.

I started to act like a dick when he started pushing their bs warranty. But he had already agreed to lower the price of the tv.

Agreed, the warranty is just a cash cow. Chances are the guy hates pushing them anyway. I've worked a few retail positions (gotta pay for college right?) and seen quite a bit.

Warranties, like insurance are always a stupid buy, until you need them.

My $2000 TV just shit the bed after 18 months.

Cost to fix: $0

Stupid warranty.

Statistically, the extended warranty is a waste of money. Congrats on destroying your TV.
