The funeral procession for the soldier is irrelevant.

Someones funeral does not entitle you to threaten someone.

The Sheriff's response, while understandable was not appropriate and unprofessional.
im sure it was nothing in comparison to the threats they recieved when they returned home from 'nam. hw could he be expected to act any differently? how can you possibly blame that guy after that kind of betrayal? you guys are usually all about "product of my environment" cases

The escorts are basically traffic cops while en route. They have the right to stop, block and direct traffic.

Bitch should have heeded their requests.
Please post the state law..

Fallacious argument

Sounds like she had a formal complaint to me, esp. to the dicks that yelled at her for apparently no reason instead of calmy asking to stop I mean wtf grow up. The sheiriffs response doesn't make sense to what she even typed out. I wondering if he even read it. His whole reply was "how good he was", but her complaint had nothing to do with her "being inconvienced", but that some in the procession were causing danger on the road.
Without police escorts? Even in her (deranged, imho) complaint, the lady mentioned that there were police officers escorting and stopping traffic, in addition to the patriot guard guys who (maybe) yelled at her.

So 35 years later, he's going to use those memories as rationale to yell at a lady for driving near a funeral procession?

The relevant MO laws:

http://www.springfieldmo.gov/spd/gen...s/funeral.html

Doesn't look like you have to pull over. You just can't interfere.

So, after re-reading, I think she has some legitimate complaints about her perception of the behavior of the escorts (if they really acted that way). Had she limited her tirade to that, fine. But she started off seemingly criticizing that the procession was even happening. That's gonna set people off.

I'm not taking anyones side here. I'm just not gonna gloss over the details because of the soldier's funeral.

Sheriff is a public official paid with tax payer dollars.
The women, despite sounding like an idiot had a valid complaint.

I'm pretty immune to the emotional appeal nonsense. I'm more interested in the facts.

Vietnam.....
Soldier....
Relatives ...family....blah blah lost someone ....blah blah blah

Irrelevant...

The only thing professional in the Sheriffs response was last line:

"Per your request, I will forward your complaint to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office for his review. "

As for the women, the only thing worth reading is:

"Men that were escorting the procession proceeded to stop in front of me in the right lane on Gravois. I had to stop in the middle of an intersection. They proceeded to scream and yell at me.....

One of them climbed off his motorcycle and came over to me and stuck his head in my car continuing to scream at me."

Though her delivery is painful to read, she has a valid complaint and she is entitled to to pursue the matter.

Had the body in the box been that of a gang banger would this thread had gone differently? Would we be so quick to dismiss the behavior of the motorcyclist sticking his head in a woman's car to yell at her had he been the uncle of an Accountant who jumped out off a bridge because of the market crash?

I am not impressed with the Sheriffs response.
