SCCA solo2
has anyone here ever ran in an autocross event before?
im looking at the events near me and it looks like some of my friends are interested in atleast trying it out and seeing what its all about namely some of my real good friends a mini cooper S, an accord, and possibly a mustang if i can talk him into it from what i gather it seems to be a relatively safe, low speed event so does anyone have an opinions? I like the idea of having something to do when its cold out and i dont feel like busting the bike out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HsqL...layer_embedded what is neat is i would have a chance to run nashville on the bike, then the next weekend take the wrx on it the first meeting that i can attend is in april before the event and i plan on going and just talking to ppl and seeing if its something that i would be interested in persuring, and the cost is much cheaper, atleast upfront then the trackdays for the bike, $20 once you get your SCCA membership (and I see this as a novice training course basically, they are big into beginner safety and making sure everyone has a good time while learning the ropes)

This is something we plan on doing with our WRX this season; I've never driven in an event, but rode passenger with a friend a few years back, and was hooked!!!
Chris was Buccaneer region B-stock champion years ago so he could give you more info than I can on the specifics, but I'd say get on Nasioc so you can hook up with some other local peeps that plan on running in that event, and get out there and have some fun!! |

I've done it. Best to treat it as competing against yourself, rather than trying to win the whole region, or else you'll spend a boatload of money on tires and mods.
With SCCA even if all you have is just a poly motor mount they'll throw you in a class with people modded to the hilt. |

That's not what I think. I know you, you are going to want to go for it and it's if the subby is going to be able to hold up to the kind of thrashing the drewpy will give it.

Its still a blast, just go out and compete against yourself or your friends, not the other competators there, it'll be more fun that way.
