I'll take my chances and rest easy with the 3-year warranty. You can't beat Xbox Live.

I will gladly pay $50/year for the services they provide. From the format to the content you can download, like movies, tv shows, new game demos and a shitload more.

You really have to be an avid user of Live to see what it does. I do know that the $50 I pay per year is the hardest working $50 I ever spend/spent.
