Gift cards - love 'em or hate 'em? - Page 3

I love getting them! I always get my daughter's teachers and administrators gift cards to Target...Who doesn't like Target?

I really like them, especially if they are to second cup or starbucks. I still have a couple hundred dollars worth to sears from our wedding reception.. probabily put that to use buying baby stuff.

My sister loves books but I never know what to get her, so a gift card to Chapters is a great thing for her.

You guys do realize they have been around for a long time in the form of gift certs right?

It is just a marketing ploy to get people to buy fancy gift certs.

BTW, I am with Lee, I don't mind getting them, but I don't like buying them for others.

I just dont like how much money i always loose on them. I find that either I am gonna spend extra money (my money) to use all the cash on the gift card or I leave a balance on it and the store keeps it.

I dont like them nor do I want them. Gimme cash, it works everywhere.

I like them. There isn't much I want that is cheap so I like having cards. I like pick a thing or two I would like to have but wouldn't want someone to pay for 100%, then I just ask for gift cards to the store I want to buy the item for. I just tell them that I want that item and will pay the difference between what I get in cards and the price.

I did that with weights last year.

I might not like them in some stores but I don't mind getting them.

BTW read the back of the Visa type gift cards. Some have crazy fees that they charge you. I was going to buy one for someone else and when I read about the fees i said fuck that and bought a store gift card.

Love to get them hate to give them.

If I am giving someone a gift I like to pick something special for them. But on the other hand whenever someone asks me what I want I usually say gift cards.
