A Tuono (1st generation or 2nd generation) is twice the bike the SV1000S is and probably cost about the same right now. I love my Aprilias but they have shit for resale values.

Tuono FTW...........Not as reliable, but way better handling & looking.

Although, why not get a ZX12R since you already like it? Those are excellent sport tourers.

they added a flap that prevents water from getting into the front plug hole on later models. I have one on my '03.

Not as reliable? Are you crazy? I'd put my Tuono up against any Jap bikes when it comes to reliability. I had the 24,000-miles done a few months back and the valves didn't even need adjustment.

I have over 40k and I dont think mine have ever been checked. Take that. Yea.

Dude.........How about things like:

1) odometer that resets if you disconnect the battery
2) electrical connectors that melt
3) clutch slave cylinders that leak
4) rear brake that constantly needs bleeding
5) oil tank made of cheap pot metal with shoddy welds that develops leaks
6) rear shock that dies early because of heat soak from the exhaust
7) swingarm recall anyone?
8) so-called "immobilizer" system that ocassionally refuses to let you start the bike for no legitimate reason

All things that happened with my 2004 (along with dozens of others on the Aprilia forum who experienced those same issues)

I know you love Aprilias, and so do I, but I would put any Japanese bike over any Italian bike when it comes to reliability. Face it, Italians' strength is not in quality control, it's in designing things with passion & art.
