i think my palms started sweating watching that - i can't believe there is no real safety net, just that biner that they clip on every 50 feet or so. nuts.

You would definitely need some brass ones. My great uncle was an electrician that worked on the Empire state building and I've seen pictures of him walking steel 700-800 feet up with spools of wire on his shoulder. I can only imagine what 1700 feet is like. Did the second guy have a parachute on?
