Tell them negotiable, but you have an understanding of the industry average... If they press, tell them you would prefer to discuss salary when they are prepared to make an offer... Make sure you kiss a bit of ass by stating your interested in their organization and salary is not your primary concern.

Beyond that, just tell them what you are willing to accept.
