I'm pretty impressed with the level of education that my kids get and the standards that they are held to. While there are a lot of schools that don't educate worth a fuck, there are some schools that are trying to develop citizens that contribute to society and encourage them to continue their education beyond high school. This school in the article is not doing us any favors though. No wonder why experts say most adults only have an 8th grade education. It's schools like this.

All I remember it being was a small town next to an AFB. Nothing noteworthy. The real money in NC is elsewhere.

Of course, since they're not teaching anything substantial failing doesn't really mean shit anyway.

I believe a big part of the problem is preparing students to continue their education beyond high school. College just isn't going to happen for all those kids, so lets get 'em ready for the real world. You can't do that with a plethora of standardized tests.

Here you're tested all through the year and if you fail, then you fail.

Pretty much. I remember in high school all teachers tried to do (for the college prep students) was prepare them fro the SAT/ACT and crap like that and teach them "how to test". I'm in college and it's funny watching the HS kids come in because they are fucking clueless about shit they learned 3 months earlier. I remember a kid confused as hell asking the professer about order of operations. Yet somehow this kid actually tested into the college level math classes.
