Exactly... it kinda sucks. cause I really have the bike for it. But she's not into it. She did two 8hr (one way) trips with me this summer. So I can't say she didn't try it.

I'd say you'd def. want a bigger bike... only because it's easy for me to keep my mind off my uncomfortable seating situation while I'm riding... because I have so much more to focus on. the passenger not so much... so more likely she'll get to her tolerance level sooner, just because of a lack of distraction more than anything.
also remember the seating position. it's one thing to ride 3500 miles on a sport bike... leaned over on your tank bag... it's another to have her leaning on you too... extra weight extra fatigue. Personally, if I ever did the 2 up thing... the GS1200 would probably be the smallest bike I'd want to take... and I'd probably want something lower just because if it starts to go... easier to correct... or pickup... but I'd just talk her into riding her own... I think you'd have more fun... as long as you can keep your right wrist under control |

You really need something like Gas has or a goldwing to make it bearable. In all honesty, it would be better for her to learn to ride her own ride before you attempt something cross country.
