It's amazing how some people believe that cruisers are inherently safer than any other bike out there. I personally believe that it's a load of crap. I know because I have a cruiser and a sportbike. Cruisers really are more difficult to ride. They are capable of a prodigious amount of speed and inertia, and when the rider doesn't know the road or how to handle their particular machine, then things end up badly. I've had the front end of my VTX lift because I leaned in too hard and used the exhaust pipe as a fulcrum. I've felt both the front and rear tire skip and slide. But I've yet to truly push my RC to her limit yet, if I come in to a corner too hot for how much I'm leaned, I can just lean more, with the VTX, once you're on the peg, that's it.

he walked away from it... no doubt he had a decent scare. One of three things happened: 1 he learned from it, adapted his riding style, and is a better rider now. 2 he got the shit scared out of him, sold the bike, and we don't have to worry about him anymore. 3 he learned nothing, blamed it on someone else (it's the American way) and is eventually going to kill either himself or someone else.
