Question Headlights in the rain

I am always surprised to see so many people driving without their headlights on when it is pouring down rain. (I'm talking in the car) Especially the silver, gray, beige, white cars that are the same color as the road.

I don't understand what the thinking(or lack there of) is in this practice, so I wanted to see who here refuses to turn on their headlights when it is raining and WHY.

I turn mine on even if it's just a little cloudy because, I actually want people to see me.

Okay, GO!

In most states, the law requires your headlights to be on if your wipers are on.....

Yep.

I can't see any better with them on but others can see me better.

I'm always amazed at this too. Why in god's name would you not want to be more visible?

I have "auto" headlights but they don't often come on in the rain so I turn them on manually.

Riiight, because everyone obeys the law.

Maybe this is wrong crowd to ask, but there are so many people driving without headlights on, there has got to be someone here that does it and I want to know why.

My auto headlights do it for me, I don't even think about it any more.

Evan and I were talking about this yesterday on the way to Chuys... I don't get it either. What I meant by mentioning it's the law, people in other states are taught in driver's ed to turn their lights on in the rain because it's illegal to have them off with the wipers on.

Texas drivers amaze me sometimes...
