Snappy..GM lobbys to resist new regulation that would incur higher vehicle costs without any known benefit to the consumer. And this is done by anyone who sells vehicles in this country with any large volume. OK..that is just how the game works. But... Toyota pushed off known safety problems for years knowing full well one day it would bite them in their ass. They helped push them off with the help of NTSHA, which IMO lies the issue.

You are missing the point. I said GM lobbyists work to keep vehicle costs down. BUT...when the government mandates stuff like say tire pressure monitoring systems where marketing can use it to tout safety, it is a different story.

If the government mandates lower C02 emissions, then GM is going to lobby against it. Smaller engines, more cost, less power etc. etc. There is no benefit to the consumer. You forget, GM used to be a private corporation where they actually care about giving their customers what they want, unlike the government.

Safety didn't sell back then like it does today....read my response above. Companies give the consumer what the consumer wants. That is just how capitalism works son.
