Maybe if you are buying used parts. No way $7K is going to get you a 9-10 second motor(that will last more than a week) with all those other parts.

85 Mustang GT 5 speed. I have crunched numbers and have a plan of attack, trust me, it can be done and has been done. I got the parts for a 5 lug swap from a junkyard on half off day...cost like $30 for 2 axle shafts and front rotors. Next up is a Lincoln rear disk swap, should be about $40 on half off day. I have seen low nines with suspension, cage and junkyard turbos for well under four thousand. The biggest cost in building/fixing a car is labor, do as much as you can yourself and save thousands. Even if you buy craigslist/ebay parts and rebuild them it saves money. I admit I am no mechanic, but I can do everything except rebuild an engine in my own garage. My car is not a show queen, but it looks damn good and I would rather be fast, than look fast anyways.

Exactly, I just got a mystery payment of about 1400 from what I assume is the government and I'm about to leave for annual training which I'm taking my regular work vacation for, can you say double dip? Might get my new toy sooner than anticipated
