I think the poll speaks to the common thought among the peeps.

This service is not offered/advertised here. The Emerg services FD/EHS are called for non-emergent calls, and they have to attend to some degree. But what a waste of man/woman power. I work with Fire Fighters and paramedics. The stories are abundant. They will break in to prove a point and walk away and leave people with the bill. And rightly so.

You'd have a hard time finding any front line worker agreeing with the idea of calling the FD to unlock your door. It goes against our principles. I'd rather pay - prior to being a nurse, or emerg nurse, than call the FD to unlock my door (advertised or not). I'd be totally ashamed.

I'd be totally ashamed b/c I wasn't raised to think it was appropriate to call the FD to unlock my knob lock. Especially since I was taught many a time how to unlock/destroy a lock - thanks to my father, his credit card, back pocket comb, butter knife, screw driver, silver wrapper from gum.... etc....
