Yep, my primary instrument is bass (I play 4, 5, 6, 7 and 12 string bass)...I play a pretty mean rock guitar and drums too, but I really like being the force behind what makes people move. Funny thing is, a lot of people don't really know what the bass actually plays. I've actually had people ask me "what does the bassplayer do?".
Well, I like to think of it as the role of "atlas". I kinda hold up the world...only nobody even knows I exist...until I stop playing. Then suddenly people wheel around, and ask "why'd the music stop??". Cracks me up. Funny thing is, the drummer can lay out, the guitarist can lay out, the keyboardist can lay out, and no one will say shit (especially at rehearsals), but if the bass player stops, the "music" stops. That's the only time the bassist gets fucking noticed. I love being that pivotal, and yet that anonymous.
