Kaneman's potential prison sentence. (A rant)
Not really going to prison, but feeling almost angry enough to start a riot.
Usually my wife gets up early to take our son to school, but sometimes, like today, she goes to Jiu Jitsu to train at 6am and I take the boy to school. Well, I didn't realize that was the plan, didn't set an alarm, and didn't wake up until 8. Totally my fault. So I get him up, dressed and fed then wifey gets home from training and runs him up to the school real fast...so he ends up being 30 min late. They inform my wife that this is his 4th tardy and he will get lunch detention tomorrow (Friday). Well, of course its fucking stupid since a 7 year old has absolutely no control over what time he gets to school....but whatever. Lunch detention isn't that much different from regular lunch since they're not allowed to socialize anyway. Cool, so we'll let him know he's not a bad kid and take him to do something awesome Friday night to make up for my mistake that he got punished for. Then comes the kicker....kids in lunch detention are allowed 1 cheese sandwich and 1 milk for lunch. That's it. A motherfucking cheese sandwich with two pieces of unhealthy white bread and a slice of processed disgusting American cheese. Not allowed to bring his own, its part of the punishment. So you're going to fucking starve my child because he was late due to no fault of his own, which simultaneously making him hate you? Never mind the fact that he's only missed 2 days of school all year, or that he frequently gets "Student of the Day" honors and very rarely gets in any trouble. My boy is a competition Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grappler, he trains hard 5 days a week, is cut like a mini body builder and eats literally as much as a grown man....and you're going to give him a cheese sandwich? No, fuck that, not on my life. So the plan is for me to go up tomorrow and pick him up right before lunch. Thinking I'll take him to a museum and the zoo if its nice out. And that's where the potential prison sentence comes in....because if they give me any shit about picking him up or try to hold him prisoner against his and my will there is going to be some trouble. I've been training pretty hard these past couple of months....I'm thinking I could submit two teachers at the same time...

Eating punishments, I'd would sue. Taking away a kid's nutrition should never be part of a school's punishment.

They're just going to delay the punishment.

It'd be better for him to do it on Monday than on Friday IMO.

Funny thing is, we could've been really lazy today and just kept him out and everything would've been just fine. I'll have to remember that next time we're running late.

I can understand your frustration but I can also see where the school is coming from: If the kid doesn't want to miss out on pizza Wednesdays, they may be more active at pushing their parent(s) to get them to school on time.

It's clear you don't really understand responsibility and commitments. Maybe the kid will learn it from school. ...and the cheese sandwich thing was common practice at my school when you were being disciplined. |
