Sorry, I don't have to pretend to be a bad ass with my vicious appearing dog to cofirm what I think about myself in my mind. I am perfectly happy with family dog if it lets me get a dog. I would never want to own a dog like that anyway. My ideal dog is a sheltie.

Yep, part of the reason I am not allowed to have one. She doesn't want to clean up all the shedding.

Yeah I hear ya, no long hair was a requirement from the wife. All dogs are cool in my book anyway. Well except for the little ankle bitter rat dogs.

The length of the hair does not equal the amount of shedding. My short hair dog left more hair behind than any of my two long haired dogs together (and it was harder to brush up 'cause it was so short).

There are Japanese Akitas and American Akitas. The American Akitas have been breed to be larger. Diesel is American and weighs about 150. Rachel was Japanese Akita and weighted around 85. Unfortunately this was still to heavy for me to lift by myself when I needed to get her to the vet. I had to wait for someone to come help me. I don’t want to go through that again.

Shiba Inus are ridiculously smart. My friend had one that would break out of the apartment everyday, go beg for food at the local restaurant, and get himself back in the apartment before my friend got home. He only found out about it after walking the dog by the restaurant and the owner said something.
